Public notice for the release of my previously sealed records for my current status as active duty with the United States Marine Corps

Due to my assignment for a mission that is critical to United States of America national security, my personal service record with my current active status with the United States Marine Corps is sealed. The only reason to leave my service record sealed is to demonstrate your malice to me and my current active status as a United States Marine.

Verifying Active Duty Military Status or Employment with the Department of Defense

Published 10/25/2007 10:04 PM | Updated 03/23/2011 03:03 PM

How can I verify employment for military members?

The Department of Defense does not verify employment for active duty military members or for civilian employees by telephone. If you are seeking verification of military service or employment with DoD by phone, please use the contact phone numbers on the person's resume, or application, to reach the DoD office or military organization at which they work or have worked previously.

Verification at the DoD level is managed through web sites or through the military services. To verify the employment status of DoD civilians, please go to The Work Number web site. DoD subscribes to this service for the verification of employment. It is at: http://www.theworknumber.com/

To verify Active Duty status for military members, as authorized under the Service members Civil Relief Act, please go to the Defense Manpower and Data Center web site. The web address for verification is:

https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/scra/scraHome.do

To use either of these services, you will need the individual's social security number as well as some other basic personal data such as legal name and date of birth.

You may also contact the military services to verify the status of a military member. The fact sheet below will assist you.

This information sheet has been developed to respond to the many people who contact the Department of Defense requesting confirmation of whether an individual has ever served in the military.

To obtain certificates of service or non-service under the The Service members Civil Relief Act of 2003 (SCRA) formerly known as the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Relief Act of 1940 (SSCRA), please address your correspondence to the appropriate military office listed below.

In the event you are unsure of the Service that an individual may have served in, the only recourse is to write to each office. The charge for each Soldiers and Sailors certificate (as of February 21, 2002) is $5.20. Checks should be made payable to the "Treasurer of the United States."
