A mad scientist, named Prof. Grossenfibber, has invented a time tunnel. Woody Woodpecker, a knick-knack salesman, initially pesters the scientist, who kicks him out. But when the Prof. needs a test subject, he quickly invites Woody back, and promptly sends him to the stone age with the machine. While there, Woody manages to peddle some of his objects to a dinosaur and a caveman, but will he ever get back?

Long Description
The 1912 Gage tractor biplane in the NASM collection is generally referred to as the Fowler-Gage, in recognition of Robert G. Fowler, who owned and flew this airplane. Fowler learned to fly at the Wright school in Dayton, Ohio, in the summer of 1911. Following his training he shipped a Wright Model B airplane to San Francisco for a try at the $50,000-prize offered by newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst for the first U.S. transcontinental flight in thirty days or less. After a number of unsuccessful tries, Fowler finally completed a flight from Los Angeles to Jacksonville, Florida, between October 18, 1911, and February 8, 1912. It was a noteworthy flight, but it was completed after Cal Rodgers made the first transcontinental crossing by air late in 1911 in his famous Wright EX called the Vin Fiz. (Rodgers did not receive the $50,000 Hearst prize, as he exceeded the thirty-day limit.)

Carlos Delargo, son of a royal princess of Mandorra who has been banished, is returned to the kingdom to face a murder charge, but is freed by King Lorenzo, to whom Dalargo bears a remarkable resemblance. WASHINGTON — Ronald Reagan's spiritual heirs will fill the halls of the Republican convention in late August, but the Democrats have secured his flesh and blood for next week's bash in Boston.
Ron Reagan, 46, the former president's younger son, plans to deliver a five- to eight-minute address at the Democratic National Convention to endorse embryonic-stem-cell experiments, research some believe his father would have opposed but which his mother supports.
Affronted Republicans moved to discredit the famously renegade son, who often disagreed with his family's politics and is an outspoken critic of President Bush. "I think his speech is a cute little story for convention coverage, but I don't think it's the sort of thing that will influence any voters," said Gary Bauer, a conservative activist and domestic-policy adviser to President Reagan. Ron Reagan, a registered independent who is critical of both parties, lives in Seattle with Doria, his wife of more than 20 years. He did not respond to requests for an interview but said on MSNBC, for which he is a political commentator, his speech would stick to science and avoid Bush-bashing. "I'm aware that some people will say ... I'm being used by the Democrats. Maybe to some extent that's true. But then, I'm using them, too," he said.

My fellow Americans:
Not too long ago one of our Ambassadors visited an American armored cavalry regiment stationed on the NATO line in Germany. As he returned to his helicopter, he was followed by a young 19-year-old trooper. The trooper asked him if he could get a message to the President. Well, the Ambassador said that sometimes getting messages to the President was part of his job. And the young trooper then said, "Will you tell him we're proud to be here, and we ain't scared of nothin."
Well, not long ago the Ambassador was in Washington and told me the sequel to that incident. I'd repeated a story in a talk that was carried on our Voice of America radio program, and there in that base in Germany the young trooper heard the broadcast and knew that I'd received his message. His commanding officer said that he ran down the company street yelling: "The system works! The system works!"
Well, the system does work, but not just because Ambassadors can get messages from a 19-year-old trooper to the President.
