Dr. Alfred Lanning: I'm sorry. My responses are limited. You must ask the right questions.

Nose art

Nose art is a decorative painting or design on the fuselage of a military aircraft, usually located near the nose, and is a form of aircraft graffiti.

While begun for practical reasons of identifying friendly units, the practice evolved to express the individuality often constrained by the uniformity of the military, to evoke memories of home and peacetime life, and as a kind of psychological protection against the stresses of war and the probability of death.

Heiress Is Identified as Victim in Case Against Arts Patron

By DANIEL J. WAKIN
Published: June 3, 2005
Correction Appended

The investor whose money prosecutors say was stolen by Alberto W. Vilar, the philanthropist and investment adviser, has been identified as the 67-year-old widow of a California millionaire.

The investor, generally identified in a Securities and Exchange Commission complaint as "L. C.," but on two occasions as "Cates," is Lily Cates, 67, of Manhattan, supporters of Mr. Vilar said, clearing up one of the mysteries surrounding his arrest. The original charges, unsealed on May 27, gave no details about his accuser, who has been identified in unrelated court cases also as Lily Cates Naify.

Ms. Cates is the mother of the actress Phoebe Cates

Memorable quotes for

Battlestar Galactica (2003) (TV)

[his decommissioning speech]

Adama: The Cylon War is long over, yet we must not forget the reasons why so many sacrificed so much in the cause of freedom. The cost of wearing the uniform can be high, but...

[very long pause]

Adama: sometimes it's too high. You know, when we fought the Cylons, we did it to save ourselves from extinction. But we never answered the question "Why?" Why are we as a people worth saving? We still commit murder because of greed and spite, jealousy, and we still visit all of our sins upon our children. We refuse to accept the responsibility for anything that we've done, like we did with the Cylons. We decided to play God, create life. And when that life turned against us, we comforted ourselves in the knowledge that it really wasn't our fault, not really. You cannot play God then wash your hands of the things that you've created. Sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide from the things that you've done anymore.

Springfield! Springfield!

Father Goose (1964)

Oh come on. Buzz off.

- Mother Goose?
- Frank!

- I knew you wouldn't leave me here!
- This is the Big Bad Wolf.

Go away.

I know you're saying
something, Mother Goose,

but I can't hear you.
You've got to flip the key.

- I said go away.
- You're still not coming through.

There's a button on
the microphone,

you have to press it down
while you're speaking.

Can you hear me now?

That's better. You'll find
some charts there, Walter,

identifying enemy ships and aircraft.
Study them, will you?

Have you seen anything yet?
Any planes or ships?

- Yeah, some planes.
- Ours or theirs?

Kind of depends which side
you're on, doesn't it?

Now, take the kids to the launch and
for God's sake keep them quiet.

Here.

Walter?

Huh?

I look awful in black.

Oh...

Over here.

- The house is on fire.
- I know. I started it.

When did you do that?

Last night when you were asleep.

Subject: a world for him

It rained. The procession of weary soldiers became a bedraggled train, despondent and muttering, marching with churning effort in a trough of liquid brown mud under a low, wretched sky. Yet the youth smiled, for he saw that the world was a world for him, though many discovered it to be made of oaths and walking sticks. He had rid himself of the red sickness of battle. The sultry nightmare was in the past. He had been an animal blistered and sweating in the heat and pain of war. He turned now with a lover's thirst to images of tranquil skies, fresh meadows, cool brooks--an existence of soft and eternal peace.

Over the river a golden ray of sun came through the hosts of leaden rain clouds.

THE END.
