Prisoner of War Medal
The Prisoner of War Medal is a military award of the United States armed forces which was authorized by Congress and signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on 8 November 1985. The United States Code citation for the POW Medal statute is 10 U.S.C. § 1128.
The Prisoner of War Medal may be awarded to any person who was a prisoner of war after April 5, 1917, (the date of the United States entry into World War I was the 6th). It is awarded to any person who was taken prisoner or held captive while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States; while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing Armed Force; or while serving with friendly forces engaged in armed conflict against an opposing Armed Force in which the United States is not a belligerent party. As of an amendment to Title 10 of the United States Code in 1989, the medal is also awarded for captivity by foreign armed forces that are hostile to the United States, under circumstances which the Secretary concerned finds to have been comparable to those under which persons have generally been held captive by enemy armed forces during periods of armed conflict. It's looks as though I have the choice of which side-effect to endure from the drugs I am being forced to take. If I take the medication to counter the side-effects from the anti-psychotic, I only sleep most of the day and I feel very groggy when I am awake. If I don't take the medication to counter the side-effects of the anti-psychotic, I don't feel as groggy, but my muscles, starting today with my legs, start to get a disturbing tightening feeling. I think I'll start taking the side-effect medication again and deal with the sleepiness side-effects. I am certainly glad to have the freedom to make choices as I am being tormented by anonymous cowards.

YORK, S.C. — Susan Smith, charged with drowning her two young sons in a faked carjacking, is emotionally like a 6-year-old and not ready to be examined by state psychiatrists, her lawyer said in court Friday.
Prosecutor Thomas Pope wants a judge to order a psychiatric exam for Smith, 23, of Union, S.C., to determine if she is sane enough to stand trial on murder charges.
She is accused of drowning her sons Michael, 3, and Alex, 14 months. Police say she confessed to letting her car, with the boys strapped into their safety seats, roll into John D. Long Lake on Oct. 25.
The hearing was Smith's first court appearance since her Nov. 3 arrest.

Earlier, Smith's parents and other relatives said in a statement that "our love for Susan is unconditional. We are by her side and will not forsake her."
Bruck opposed Pope's motion for a psychiatric examination, "and I can give you a three-word reason why . . . the death penalty."
A psychiatric examination could be used as evidence to execute Smith if Pope seeks the death penalty and she is convicted, Bruck said.
"The law under which I am working does not let me roll the dice," said Bruck, a death-penalty opponent.
"Susan is a lot like a 6-year-old child. She needs to be protected from the legal peril that is before her."
Pope said he does not expect to decide until at least January whether he will seek the death penalty.
Pope said it was vital to have Smith examined quickly. "The closer to the time (of the drownings) the examination (occurs), the clearer indication the answers will give," he said.

The prosecution showed the jury two-videotape re-enactments of Susan Smith's burgundy Mazda rolling down the boat ramp and into the water. During the showing of the videotape of the car filling with water, Prosecutor Keith Giese commented that the rear of the car was rising while the front of the car was filling with water and that Michael and Alex would have faced the lake's water before the water engulfed them. The videotape re-enactment of Susan's Mazda submerging into the lake showed that it took a full six minutes for the car to fill with water before it became completely submerged, because the car's doors and windows were closed.
On Wednesday, July 27, 1995 the prosecution showed the jury pictures taken of Michael and Alex after they had been removed from the Mazda. Judge Howard only allowed photographs showing the brothers' discolored and decomposing legs and arms. The judge would not allow several photos showing the full effects of the nine-day submersion to be shown to the jury. After the presentation of the photos, the prosecution rested its case

In another part of the dream, I was riding in the back of a metro bus. There were people on there I recognized from that past few years. I feel there is a lot to that part of the dream I cannot remember.
One interesting part of the dream is that I would sometimes catch a reflection in the bus window glass that appeared to be a U.S. Navy pilot wearing a helmet and equipment as though he was sitting in the cockpit of an aircraft. I looked around to see where that reflection was coming from, but I never did see that person sitting there on the bus.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A theft caught on tape is shedding light on the importance of security cameras. Several years ago the tiny cameras were unheard of, but now they're lurking in the least likely places.
Soda machines can carry a large amount of money at any given time and it now many are carrying cameras as well.
One such camera, tucked back in a soda machine, caught a man stealing the cash inside, putting a clear picture of his face for all to see.
"It should serve as a warning," Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Gary Knight said.
While no one may see a robbery take place during the act, it is likely being taped.
"It protects my customer and it protects me," Byron Gambulos said.
Gambulos owns Byron's Liquor Warehouse, 23rd St. and Broadway Avenue, and knows the importance of a security camera, so much so, he has 21 one of them protecting his business and his prices.
"If I have a lot of shoplifting, obviously I'm gonna go up on my prices," said Gambulos. "With low shoplifting I can cut my prices and get even more than what I am."
Elizabeth Jones owns Spy Gear and says her biggest customers these days are those looking to use them to protect their homes.
"A lot of times it is just a camera for insurance, in case someone breaks in and I've seen a lot of that," Jones said.
Police stats show burglaries are up 22 percent from last year.
"This has certainly helped us solve a lot of crimes years ago would have gone unsolved," Sgt. Knight said.

The Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda (German: Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda or Propagandaministerium) was Nazi Germany's ministry that enforced Nazi Party ideology in Germany and regulated its culture and society. Founded on March 13, 1933, by Adolf Hitler's new National Socialist government, the Ministry was headed by Dr. Joseph Goebbels and was responsible for controlling the press and culture of Nazi Germany.
The Ministry was based in the Ordenspalais in Berlin-Mitte on the Wilhelmplatz across from the Reich Chancellery.
Role in the Nazi state
When the Nazis took power the Propaganda Ministry was established almost immediately. It was charged with enforcing Nazi doctrine on the people and controlling public opinion. However, the Ministry became even more important after the outbreak of war.
World War II was conducted with a much greater level of propaganda than World War I, especially in the new media of film and radio. Because of practical experience and scientific occupation with propaganda in Europe and USA, propaganda was organised in a planned fashion. A new psychological warfare was born.
Organization
The Ministry grew steadily. It began in 1933 with five departments and 350 employees. By 1939, there were 2000 employees in 17 departments. Between 1933 and 1941, the Ministry's budget grew from 14 million to 187 million Reichsmarks. Three state secretaries were subordinate to Joseph Goebbels
Propaganda

The Propaganda Ministry used many media to further the National Socialist message and maintain control over the people. Posters, newspapers, publishing, and the arts were all used and explicitly controlled by the Ministry.
Speeches were also used to great effect by the German Government. Goebbels commented on Hitler's first speech as Chancellor: "It will have great propaganda value...be used and viewed in cinemas for years to come...what an achievement."
Just before Hitler delivered this speech Goebbels introduced him and used the opportunity to highlight the importance of propaganda. "It seems you cannot have a good government without good propaganda, but then, you can't have good propaganda without a good government. However, you cannot lie! We must never lie!
