And birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you'd understand?
It was after a special operation that I was swimming in the ocean. My memory tells me that I had no role in the operation, other than I was there. There are these other thoughts, thought, of me floating in the ocean by myself, having completed my mission, hoping that someone would find me.
After I moved into that first apartment in Greenville, a friend made a big deal about me jumping into the pool one day with my clothes on. I associate a song from The Doors with that memory: Riders on the storm.
When I was living in the duplex on Wexford in Taylors, driving my fancy red RX-7, I was seeing this 19 year that worked at the bank with the initials R.B., although I am sure she doesn't exist. I need to stop referring to Julia Roberts as I am crazingly beginning to believe I did know her and cared about her, but yet, I don't know, I just want to figure who I used to be.

COLDPLAY
"Speed Of Sound"
How long before I get in?
Before it starts, before I begin?
How long before you decide?
Before I know what it feels like?
Where To, where do I go?
If you never try, then you'll never know.
How long do I have to climb,
Up on the side of this mountain of mine?
Look up, I look up at night,
Planets are moving at the speed of light.
Climb up, up in the trees,
every chance that you get,
is a chance you seize.
How long am I gonna stand,
with my head stuck under the sand?
I'll start before I can stop,
before I see things the right way up.
All that noise, and all that sound,
All those places I got found.
And birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you'd understand?
Ideas that you'll never find,
All the inventors could never design.
The buildings that you put up,
Japan and China all lit up.
The sign that I couldn't read,
or a light that I couldn't see,
some things you have to believe,
but others are puzzles, puzzling me.
All that noise, and all that sound,
All those places I got found.
And birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you'd understand,
ah when you see it then you'll understand?
All those signs, I knew what they meant.
Some things you can invent.
Some get made, and some get sent,
Ooh?
Birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you'd understand,
ah, when you see it then you'll understand?
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 02/29/08 5:17 AM
I had a very clear dream about being out to sea but the progress of the events seem to be somewhat out of sequence. I have been thinking about it after waking up and I feel it is important to note that certain events happened out of sequence in the dream and I cannot now remember the sequence as I dreamed, although the sequence of events that are out of order might only span a matter of hours. One reason that seemed important after I woke up is that I was thinking I had been flying an F-14 Tomcat during that event, because that notion was strong in my mind during one dream sequence of events, but then I seemed to be dreaming that I had actually been in an A-6 Intruder.
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 02/29/08 5:21 AM
So anyway, I feel certain the dream sequence started off with me floating in the ocean and I had been in the water for at least two days and there was some concern in my mind about sharks.
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 02/29/08 5:22 AM
Then I noticed a ship was approaching and I was waving my arms to get their attention but I think they had already spotted me and they were approaching me to extract me from the water and they were coming so close I thought they were going to run over me.
There is also something wrong with the proportions in that dream as well, in that the ship seemed a lot smaller than it should be, or something like that. I feel certain it was a Ticonderoga-class cruiser so that would mean, if that really was the class of U.S. Navy ship, that the dream occurred during the 1980's or later. I had no other sense of time and date to the dream.
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 02/29/08 5:25 AM
I remember something about identifying the bow structure of the ship and that was how I knew it was a Ticonderoga but after waking up, I have been wondering why I cannot remember other identifying details about the Ticonderoga-class, such as that large, distinctive forward superstructure or whether it had a rail-launcher or the absence of the rail-launcher, indicating it was one of the later VLS versions.
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 02/29/08 5:27 AM
After the ship pulled past me as I floated in the ocean, I saw a Seahawk helo lift off from the deck, seemingly from the bow, which is odd, and then it was approaching me and I was anticipating it is winch me up as it hovered over me. Another odd detail is that it actually seemed to land, although I cannot visualize it landing, impossibly, on the ocean surface, but I recall that detail because I noted that the tail rotors almost hit me.
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 02/29/08 5:30 AM
Then I was in the ship and I seemed to be in CIC, judging by all the equipment and I was sitting in chair and I was still wearing wet clothes. I can visualize one person that was talking to me more than anyone else but I cannot visualize enough detail about him to describe.
It seems it was then in the dream that I started to dream, or to think, about the events that led to me being in the ocean. I still feel a certain amount of confusion as to whether I dreamed it all in sequence as it occurred, in that this all is probably a true experience I was dreaming about, or whether I dreamed it in the sequence as I am not writing.
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 02/29/08 5:33 AM
As some point in the dream, and that seems to be associated to other events in this dream sequence, I was flying in the B/N seat of an A-6 Intruder and something happened, that I never did seem to know about in the dream, and I was going to have to eject, along with the pilot. At some point since waking up, I am aware that the pilot did not survive and I recall that I never did see him again in the dream. So I don't know what happened and why we had to eject but certain details seem unrealistic, even though I can still visualize sitting there in that B/N seat. One detail is that I was not wearing any kind of harness or belt and after what ever event it was that made us eject, I pulled across an automobile seatbelt and I can still visualize clipping it in.
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 02/29/08 5:38 AM
I think that was just before I noted that I seemed to be sitting in some kind of high-back desk chair and that I pulled the lever that caused the seat back to un-recline, or whatever is the proper word, and the seat back was actually causing me to lean forward.
Then when I, or we, as I can only recally myself ejecting, and similar to scenes in "Top Gun" and "Flight of the Intruder," but with different results, I was blasted through the plexiglass canopy and it shattered as I was blasted through it. I did not seem to suffer any injuries from going through the canopy and I ponder every time over that scene in "Flight of the Intruder.
I think that was the extent of my dream. I think then the dream picks up with me floating in the ocean for at least 2 days and a USN ship rescuing me.

Ah.... a cookbook. If that was me that was stuck in the aircraft carrier's superstructure after ejecting from a failed launch of my F-14 Tomcat, I created an artificial and symbolic memory of me sitting underneath the ships radar while reading a book. I almost got cooked by that radar so I symbolized that with me sitting under it reading a book to create a reference to a cookbook. I have other vague memories, artificial or real, I'm not certain, that support this notion.

That started making me think about my right elbow again, there is a tenderness to it, and I remember something like bone chips under the surface. I am wondering if I didn't tuck it in well enough when I had to eject from an aircraft at some point. I don't think that happened during this event, but I'm not sure. I have been wondering again today if a memory I have of running out of gas in my red Ford relates here. I was on my way to supervising construction of the Senior-class float for the school parade. It's hard to know if these thoughts that come up are the result of memories coming back or they are just imagination. I am wondering again about that thought of me having an air-to-air kill during this operation and I ran out of gas because I engaged another fighter.

I just read this a few minutes ago after finding it on the internet and it sure sounds a lot like what I wrote about the front wheel popping off my blue 1967 Chevrolet in my artificial and symbolic memory. It also reminds me of something I wrote long ago about a visit I made to the USS Taylor FFG-50 in 1987 when the ship was in-port in Norfolk and I was attending school in Virginia Beach, having been previously assigned to the Taylor. Since those "memories" are all completely false and artificial, there must be a reason I "remember" them. In that "memory" of visiting the Taylor, one of my former coworkers was telling me about how a target drone missile had crashed into the superstructure of the ship and someone had to go up there with a fire extinquisher and put out the fire. When I wrote about how the wheel of my truck popped off just before I crossed over a wooden bridge, I believe that bridge is symbolic of the forward edge of the flight deck. I don't know if this description below was me, as this type of accident may be relatively common, if you understand the nature of a catapult launch from an aircraft carrier. That text also reminds me very clearly of a time at night when Micheal was in a tree in the yard and I was trying to find him. It was kind of game of hide-and-seek using walkie-talkies. It took him a while to figure out that I was turning off my walkie-talkie as he would speak and then I would hear where his voice was coming from.

Broken Launch Bar Linkage
The USS Forrestal (CV-59) was on its last operational cruise in the Med in 1990. We were conducting night flight ops off the coast of Turkey in support of Operation Provide Comfort. I had just shutdown my aircraft and was walking across the flight deck when the sound of snapping metal amidst a Tomcat launch off the port waist cat caught my attention. I turned to see the F-14 sliding sideways towards the edge of the flight deck. Apparently a component of the launch bar had snapped midway through the catapult stroke sequence, giving the Tomcat only a gentle push (approx. 20-30 knots) instead of the huge kick in the butt required to get the aircraft up to flying speed. The pilot had immediately realized something was wrong, and in a split second reacted to attempt to hit the brakes and stop prior to falling off the edge into the ocean 80 feet below. As they approached the edge, a tire blew sending the F-14 sliding sideways, and the pilot judged they wouldn't stop in time and initiated ejection. As the pilot and RIO rode the seat rails up into the night, one of the F-14s main landing gear jumped the deck edge rail but miraculously stuck just over the edge, and the aircraft remained perched precariously partially over the deck edge. The RIO was soon sighted landing further aft on the flight deck, and although he received some bumps, bruises and scrapes from his ejection and rough landing on the flight deck, he was was happy to walk away from it with a good story to tell that night over midrats. Meanwhile, a full scale search was underway for the pilot. The airborne SAR helicopter had witnessed the ejection and was on the scene so rapidly that the image of the RIO floating down in his parachute canopy nearly filled their windscreen as they whipped across the fantail. They quickly set up for an approach to the datum, and commenced a hover search. Flight operations were suspended and all airborne aircraft were given instructions to hold overhead (or expeditiously recovered if low on fuel). Fifteen minutes later there was still no sign of the pilot. As the search proceeded with additional helicopters and ships in the area, the flight deck began to quiet down. An alert deck hand thought he heard a faint cry for help, but didn't see anything over the deck edge. The sound of yelling for help persisted, and suddenly the deck hand looked up, and with the aid of his flashlight, was able to make out the shape of the pilot hanging from his parachute 100 feet above him in the radio antennaes and masts at the top of the carrier's superstructure. Although the recovery of the pilot took an additional half hour, he was recovered uninjured.

Ronald Reagan
October 23, 1947
Reagan was president of the Screen Actors Guild at this time. His interest and involvement in politics was really only beginning. He was, however, a committed anti-Communist, and here cooperated with HUAC in commenting on the alleged activities of communists in Hollywood and the Screen Actors Guild.
CHAIRMAN J. PARNELL THOMAS: The record will show that Mr. McDowell, Mr. Vail, Mr. Nixon, and Mr. Thomas are present. A subcommittee is sitting. Staff members present: Mr. Robert E. Stripling, chief investigator; Messrs. Louis J. Russell, H.A. Smith, and Robert B. Gaston, investigators; and Mr. Benjamin Mandel, director of research.
STRIPLING: When and where were you born, Mr. Reagan?
RONALD REAGAN: Tampico, Illinois, February 6, 1911.
STRIPLING: What is your present occupation?
REAGAN: Motion picture actor.
STRIPLING: How long have you been engaged in that profession?
REAGAN: Since June 1937, with a brief interlude of 3 1/2 years -- that at the time didn't seem very brief.
STRIPLING: What period was that?
REAGAN: That was during the late war.
STRIPLING: What branch of service were you in?
REAGAN: Well, sir, I had been for several years in the Reserve as an officer in the United States Cavalry, but I was assigned to the Air Corps.
STRIPLING: That is kind of typical of the Army, isn't it?
REAGAN: Yes, sir. The first thing the Air Corps did was loan me to the Signal Corps.
MCDOWELL: You didn't wear spurs?
REAGAN: I did for a little while.
CHAIRMAN: I think this has little to do with the facts we are seeking. Proceed.
STRIPLING: Mr. Reagan, are you a member of any guild?
REAGAN: Yes, sir, the Screen Actors Guild.
STRIPLING: How long have you been a member?
REAGAN: Since June 1937.
STRIPLING: Are you the president of the guild at the present time?
REAGAN: Yes, sir.
STRIPLING: When were you elected?
REAGAN: That was several months ago. I was elected to replace Mr. (Robert) Montgomery when he resigned.
STRIPLING: When does your term expire?
REAGAN: The elections come up next month.
STRIPLING: Have you ever held any other position in the Screen Actors Guild?
REAGAN: Yes, sir. Just prior to the war I was a member of the board of directors, and just after the war, prior to my being elected president, I was a member of the board of directors.
STRIPLING: As a member of the board of directors, as president of the Screen Actors Guild, and as an active member, have you at any time observed or noted within the organization a clique of either communists or fascists who were attempting to exert influence or pressure on the guild?
REAGAN: Well, sir, my testimony must be very similar to that of Mr. (George) Murphy and Mr. (Robert) Montgomery. There has been a small group within the Screen Actors Guild which has consistently opposed the policy of the guild board and officers of the guild, as evidenced by the vote on various issues. That small clique referred to has been suspected of more or less following the tactics that we associate with the Communist Party.
STRIPLING: Would you refer to them as a disruptive influence within the guild?
REAGAN: I would say that at times they have attempted to be a disruptive influence.
STRIPLING: You have no knowledge yourself as to whether or not any of them are members of the Communist Party?
REAGAN: No, sir, I have no investigative force, or anything, and I do not know.
STRIPLING: Has it ever been reported to you that certain members of the guild were communists?
REAGAN: Yes, sir, I have heard different discussions and some of them tagged as communists.
STRIPLING: Would you say that this clique has attempted to dominate the guild?
REAGAN: Well, sir, by attempting to put their own particular views on various issues, I guess you would have to say that our side was attempting to dominate, too, because we were fighting just as hard to put over our views, and I think, we were proven correct by the figures -- Mr. Murphy gave the figures -- and those figures were always approximately the same, an average of 90 percent or better of the Screen Actors Guild voted in favor of those matters now guild policy.
STRIPLING: Mr. Reagan, there has been testimony to the effect here that numerous communist-front organizations have been set up in Hollywood. Have you ever been solicited to join any of those organizations or any organization which you considered to be a communist-front organization?
REAGAN: Well, sir, I have received literature from an organization

Ronald Reagan
October 23, 1947
Reagan was president of the Screen Actors Guild at this time. His interest and involvement in politics was really only beginning. He was, however, a committed anti-Communist, and here cooperated with HUAC in commenting on the alleged activities of communists in Hollywood and the Screen Actors Guild.
STRIPLING: Mr. Reagan, what is your feeling about what steps should be taken to rid the motion picture industry of any communist influences?
REAGAN: Well, sir, 99 percent of us are pretty well aware of what is going on, and I think, within the bounds of our democratic rights and never once stepping over the rights given us by democracy, we have done a pretty good job in our business of keeping those people's activities curtailed. After all, we must recognize them at present as a political party. On that basis we have exposed their lies when we came across them, we have opposed their propaganda, and I can certainly testify that in the case of the Screen Actors Guild we have been eminently successful in preventing them from, with their usual tactics, trying to run a majority of an organization with a well organized minority. In opposing those people, the best thing to do is make democracy work. In the Screen Actors Guild we make it work by insuring everyone a vote and by keeping everyone informed. I believe that, as Thomas Jefferson put it, if all the American people know all of the facts they will never make a mistake. Whether the party should be outlawed, that is a matter for the government to decide. As a citizen, I would hesitate to see any political party outlawed on the basis of its political ideology. However, if it is proven that an organization is an agent of foreign power, or in any way not a legitimate political party -- and I think the government is capable of proving that -- then that is another matter.

The most formidable air defenses in the history of warfare. Our job, the task of the Intruder, is to kill SAMs. Make no mistake about it, gentlemen, SAMs are where your ordnance goes. Otherwise, those B-52's will be dead meat. We can expect a forest of SAMs and flak you can lay down on. We've got to cut a path through for the Air Force. We'll be going in broad daylight with nothing to hide behind. We'll be easy targets up there, gentlemen, but they're counting on us. Lean into it. Let's go downtown!

Plot Summary
The credits fade onto a blind man tapping his way down the sidewalk,he enters a dingy boarding house and hears a shot fired in one of the upstairs bedrooms. A door opens from audience POV. A man tumbles out of the door and falls, slides and slithers down two flights of stairs and is dead when he hits the bottom. Then follows nearly 100 minutes of flashback and flashbacks-within-flashbacks about a veteran returing from the war, tired and disillusioned, only to find that he girl he loves has lied to him about her relationship with another man, and that man is sadistic, boastful and tauntful.

[I remember seeing this during my first week at Microsoft. All of us at the office went to see it one day. They gave me a van to drive around since I had just moved there and several of my coworkers rode with me to the theatre. I remember one of my coworkers complaining that I had pulled past the crosswalk line when I stopped at a light. This movie seems to tie with that Showtime movie Stewart did that came out about the same time. In this Star Trek, there is the part, as I read in the script the other day, about the Admiral complaining about Picard sending in his android to observe. I remember an odd detail about one of my coworkers that I went with to Texas, that would been Jan. 1999 I think, for Premier orientation: she had a scar on her neck, but I think it went away after a while. I also remember a couple years ago I wrote something odd about two people in the Ironman community. I was writing about how they were going to run each other into the ground, which is something that almost happened when Picard and Worf were trying to restrain Data.]

In Top Gun, what is that top ribbon on Maverick’s uniform? It looks like the Battle “E”, I think it is called, but I wonder if it is a Purple Heart? Damn, I need the internet. The bottom row looked like the Navy Expeditionary, Armed Forces Expeditionary, and Sea Service Deployment. Seems to me the Battle “E,” which I recall has nothing to do with a real battle but with a ship’s readiness for battle and stood for “efficiency”, would not rank higher than the expeditionary ribbons.
AND…in the opening credits of Top Gun, that dialog indicates the Navy started Top Gun on March 3, 1969. I followed that hunch about Wolf359 from TNG and that turned into 3/3/1959. Tom Cruise’s birthday is precisely in between my 1965 birthday and 3/3/59. There was also that part about his family and how he needed to do it better than “the other guy.”
My real family probably knows about everything that is going on now, but really, this is nothing more than another deployment or mission they’ve waited for me to come back from. It’s been dangerous, but that’s why I was sent and I assume I volunteered. All they can do is wait. I guess I’ll know when this is over when I see it.
The image of Bill Gates is most suited for a Viagra commercial, so they had to steal a better image to bolster investor confidence in Microsoft. And as the saying goes: sex sells.
Bill Gates has been gay stalking me because I have the libido of Genghis Khan.
Those two people in Redmond that day were indeed there to cause trouble. That’s why there were two and why they bracketed me. Whichever one I passed closest to would lean in to hit me as I passed by. The jogger I passed just before those two was positioned to witness the whole thing. Then, they reported to someone, not the truth about what they were instigating, but something about me being aggressive. And just as with that other guy from earlier, he approached me. I was standing by my bike and both times, they walked towards me. The first guy actually was running at me. I dropped my bike and he got tangled in it as I took a few steps backwards. As soon as he got untangled, and I was about to bust out laughing, I didn’t feel much like laughing when he started swinging at me. They needed to create some kind of perception that I was aggressive so their superiors, I assume, could authorize some kind of surveillance of me. They are obviously part of the corrupt element of the local police forces and were working with Microsoft to damage my reputation. It dawned on me today that I am a brick wall of credibility. That’s why they put me into Microsoft. Microsoft effectively murdered me though just as assuredly as someone there putting a gun to my head.

As someone who has been, and still is, beaten down into the ground by Microsoft for the same reasons as your article describes happened to Mark Erickson, I actually find the Supreme Court ruling encouraging. The downside, of course, is that so-called executives such as Bill Gates, who is well-versed in The Art of Shih Tzu War, have enough lawyers to turn their fiduciary responsibilities into notional ideas. Until then though, the ruling reinforces that managers are responsible for their operations and if they allow mistakes of their workers to continue, they are responsible for the wrong-doing. Also, people in the media should actually welcome this ruling because it means you are going to get a lot more off-the-record tips from workers in corporations. I think the forward-looking aspect to this ruling reflects just how brutal companies, such as I have personally experienced with Microsoft, are to workers who point out wrong-doing in their operation. For example, if you point out wrong-doing at Microsoft, they are going to make your life a living hell. I didn’t believe it myself, but it is true.
Bill Gates is the Saddam Hussein of gay stalkers.

Series Stargate SG-1
Episode 2.21
Original air date February 3, 1999
"1969" is the twenty first episode of the second season of Stargate SG-1.
Synopsis
A freak accident involving a solar flare and the Stargate causes SG-1 to gate to the Earth in 1969. While trying to figure out a way back, the team is mistaken for Soviet spies and is being transferred to another facility. However, young Lt. George S. Hammond comes to render assistance so that SG-1 can return to their own time.
Plot
A powerful solar flare crossing the path of the Stargate's matter stream causes the SG-1 team to be propelled around the sun and travel back in time 30 years. They arrive in the Embarkation room, which was then a top-secret missile testing facility, and are arrested by guards that think they are Soviet spies because Dr. Daniel Jackson can speak Russian.
While Colonel Jack O'Neill is being interrogated and using comedic answers (i.e. Star Trek and Star Wars references) to obscure their true identities, a young Lieutenant searches through SG-1's possessions and discovers a note stating that he should help them, a note Major General George S. Hammond had given Captain Samantha Carter before they left.

The helicopters would open the war. They had to take out Iraq's early warning net, and they had to get it all.
As he sat in his helicopter talking with his gunner, Colonel Cody saw a dusty rental car speeding over the tarmac. The sedan pulled to a stop. Col. Ben Orrell, Colonel Gray's deputy, yelled from the driver's seat of the car, "I need to talk to you."
Colonel Cody climbed down and ran to the vehicle.
