Episode 10 - "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead"
[Flashback - Hurley is being interviewed by a news crew outside a Mr. Clucks.]
TRICIA: It's everyone's fantasy -- winning the lottery -- untold millions falling into your lap overnight. What would you do with all that money? Well, one such lucky winner recently bought a chicken shack. I'm Tricia Tanaka with Hugo Reyes, winner of a record 140 million dollars, outside Mr. Clucks Chicken in Diamond Bar which will be having its grand re-opening tomorrow. So, Hugo, I think the question on everyone's mind is: why did you buy Mr. Clucks?
HURLEY: [nervous] Uh, I like chicken.
TRICIA: Um, also with us is Hugo's former boss, and now employee, Randy Nation. That's probably every working stiff's fantasy, isn't it, Mr. Reyes? [Hurley just shrugs] Um, okay, so, Hugo, tell us what else you've done since you got on your lucky streak?
HURLEY: Actually, I've kind of had some bad luck, too. My grandpa Tito died of a heart attack and the first house I bought my mom burnt down. My friend Johnny ran off with my girlfriend, Starla. Oh, and this guy jumped off my accountant's roof.
TRICIA: Cut! [to Hurley] What the hell was that?! It's a puff piece, Mr. Reyes, do you know what that is?
HURLEY: Yeah. Sorry, Tricia Tanaka.

I would have certainly rather have met her standing in the line at Starbucks after I have recovered from this bullshit assignment instead of during this bullshit assignment.

TRICIA: Um, do you mind if we go inside and shoot some B-roll?
HURLEY: Oh, I don't know.
RANDY: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Of course you can. He's just superstitious. You know, the ribbon isn't cut yet.
TRICIA: [to cameraman] Okay, let's go. Ugh, god I hate this. [voice fades] I always get the stupid stories...

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police caught a man hiding in a stranger’s basement after he ran from them Wednesday night. On Thursday, the suspect told KREM 2 News he was 'sorry.'
Officers knocked on the woman’s door on Tuesday night and she had no idea the suspect was in her home.
“When I let them in they said ‘Someone is hiding in your basement,’” said Elizabeth Johnson.
The officers went into the home and Johnson watched them coax the suspect into giving himself up.
The suspect was identified as Benjamin Higgins, who also goes by Cash Jackson.
KREM 2 News spoke with Higgins Thursday and he apologized for scaring Johnson. He said he had a Department of Corrections warrant out for his arrest.
Higgins said he wishes his victim had handled it differently. KREM 2 asked him how he would feel if someone hid in his home.
He said, “I’d hide them. I would.”
Higgins is now facing charges of obstructing a Law Enforcement Officer, Hit and Run and Criminal Trespass.

In addition to regional disputes, the grave threat of terrorism also jeopardizes the hopes for peace. No cause, no grievance, can justify it. Terrorism is heinous and intolerable. It is the crime of cowards—cowards who prey on the innocent, the defenseless, and the helpless.

Statement on the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust
January 27, 2008
On the third International Day of Commemoration, we remember and mourn the victims of the Holocaust.
I was deeply moved by my recent visit to Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust museum. Sixty-three years after the liberation of Auschwitz, we must continue to educate ourselves about the lessons of the Holocaust and honor those whose lives were taken as a result of a totalitarian ideology that embraced a national policy of violent hatred, bigotry, and extermination. It is also our responsibility to honor the survivors and those courageous souls who refused to be bystanders and instead risked their own lives to try to save the Nazis' intended victims.
Remembering the victims, heroes, and lessons of the Holocaust remains important today. We must continue to condemn the resurgence of anti-Semitism, that same virulent intolerance that led to the Holocaust, and we must combat bigotry and hatred in all forms in America and abroad. Today provides a sobering reminder that evil exists and a call that when we find evil, we must resist it.
May God bless the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, and may we never forget.
