:44:05
Better than the United States Marines, eh?

:44:17
Marion is dead.

:44:19
Yes, I know.

:44:21
I am sorry. Life goes on, Indy.

:44:25
There is the proof.

:44:30
I have much to tell you.
First we will take them home,

:44:34
and then I will take you to the old man.

:45:25
I can't figure out how Belloq did it.

:45:27
Where did he get a copy of the headpiece?

:45:29
There are no pictures, no duplicates of it anywhere.

:45:32
I tell you only what I saw with my own eyes.

:45:35
A headpiece like that one.

:45:37
Except around the edges which were rougher.

:45:39
In the center the Frenchman had a bit of a crystal...

:45:41
and... and surrounding the crystal, on one side,

:45:45
there were raised markings, just like that one.

:45:50
They've made the calculations in the map room?

:45:52
This morning.

[a security guard is checking en empty office. He turns the lights off and goes out. One of the fake ceiling slabs opens: a man is coming down by a rope. He turns on a computer, copies quickly files on external hard drives.]

MAN: And…bingo.

[He leaves the building with the rescue ladder. A motorbike runs in the alley, spins at his side. He grabs a helmet, the engine revs: they start running away; but a hooded guy appears in their back; he shoots. The bike and both passengers roll over the ground. The guard just arrives]

GUARD: Drop the gun!

[The guy aims at the guard but is hit in the chest, he yells and falls backwards. The engine revs again: the biker is about to run away.]

GUARD: Stop!

[Gunshots: the guard is hit in the back: the guy wasn’t dead; he sits down, aims at the bike and hits the driver -but the bike doesn’t stop. He’s wearing a vest…He stands up, goes pick up the box with the hard drives and walks away…]

DEEKS: Got a nuke in a haystack.

SAM: There's no way we can evacuate a whole county.

CALLEN: Whoever stole this thing is looking to make some coin, or this is a terrorist attack in its final stage.

[Nell joins them]

NELL: Well, the security camera from Stallworth's garage paid off.

[She puts footage onto screen]

NELL: Our shooter entered the alley wearing a ski mask.

DEEKS: I'm sorry, how is that a payoff?

NELL: Well, we figured someone walking around in a ski mask would draw attention, so we scanned the area, and we fund him using a pay phone two blocks away. Same clothes, same build, no ski mask.

DEEKS: Okay, honestly, who still uses a pay phone? I'd rather kiss the Outbreak monkey than use a pay phone.

COLDPLAY

"Clocks"

The lights go out and I can't be saved
Tides that I tried to swim against
Have brought me down upon my knees
Oh I beg, I beg and plead, singing

Come out of things unsaid
Shoot an apple off my head and a
Trouble that can't be named
A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing

You are
You are

Confusion never stops
Closing walls and ticking clocks
Gonna come back and take you home
I could not stop that you now know, singing

Come out upon my seas
Cursed missed opportunities
Am I a part of the cure?
Or am I part of the disease? Singing

You are, you are, you are
You are, you are, you are

And nothing else compares
Oh nothing else compares
And nothing else compares

You are
You are

Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go
Home, home where I wanted to go

August 8, 1955

Science speaks in many tongues. The advancement of the nuclear arts has been the work of men of many nations. That is so because the atom itself is nonpolitical. It wears no nationality and recognizes no frontiers. It is neither moral nor immoral. Only man's choice can make it good or evil. The phenomenon of nuclear fission having been revealed to man, it is still left to him to determine the use to which it shall be put.

JOURNAL ARCHIVE: Opera 2006

A while back, I was writing about that time I got my red Ford stuck in the mud while out hunting on that underground pipeline. Could that situation symbolically connect to this strike? The place I got stuck wasn't far from where I hit that 9-point deer, but I am pretty certain represents the Osirak strike, but I'm not sure which event happened first for Kerry, the 9-point or the stuck Ford. That corridor the pipeline passed through, carved out of the trees, reminds of what I was reading in this book, where the stike group went through some kind of radar corridor. There is also a corridor aspect to the travel through Jordan. Assuming I did get shot down or ran out of gas on the way back, I had to walk my way out through the very dark terrain until I found someone that could help. Kerry Burgess found someone that went to the same church to drive him back and pull his truck out. Not sure what happened in reality, assuming that I really was on the ground evading capture. It may represent a local giving me a ride back to friendly terrain. There was also that aspect of everyone back home out searching for me, but I told them I was going hunting in a different place so I was miles away from where they were actually looking for me.

And when I write about that pipeline, if I call it a "buried pipeline" I feel compelled to change that to "underground pipeline." There must be a reason for that.

All that noise, and all that sound,
All those places I got found.
And birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you'd understand?

FOREMAN TAYLOR
Dr. Langford, hello.

LANGFORD
What have we here?

FOREMAN TAYLOR
Cover stones.

LANGFORD
It's fantastic.

LANGFORD
Caterina, come.

[Catherine follows her father and the other men to another section of the site. Dozens of workers are using ropes to pull a large stone ring upright—the Stargate.]

Stargate: The Movie

DANIEL
(voiceover)
"He came to a world, rich with life, where he encountered a primitive race—humans." Heh. "A species which, with all his powers and knowledge, he could maintain indefinitely. He realized within a human body, he had a chance for a new life." Now, he apparently found a young boy. It says: "As the frightened villagers ran, night became day. Curious, and without fear, he walked towards the light."

[The boy walks to the strange lights as he's caught in a beam.]

END FLASHBACK

INT—CAVE

DANIEL
Ra took him and possessed his body—like some kind of a...parasite looking for a host. And inhabiting this human form, he appointed himself ruler.

[More pictographs show Ra as ruler over the people and an active Stargate with people walking through it.]

DANIEL
He used the Stargate to bring thousands of people here to this planet, as workers for the mines, just like the one we saw.

[Daniel moves over to another picture showing workers bring the mineral as offerings to Ra.]

DANIEL
This mineral is clearly the building block of all his technology. With this, he can sustain eternal life.

INT—RA'S SHIP

[Ra sits up from the sarcophagus.]

INT—CAVE

DANIEL
Now, something happened—where is it—back on Earth. A rebellion or uprising, and the Stargate was buried there.

Boss, I think I got something, here.
Prior to the HCF, Pischedda worked as a contractor for a private military company.
Something stand out, McGee? A job he did in 2003.
They helped transport $2 billion in cash to Iraq during Reconstruction.
How do you transport $2 billion in cash? In hundred dollar bills, shrink-wrapped and loaded onto pallets.
Then flown off into cargo planes.
Great.
How much didn't make it? Hundreds of millions went missing.
And, boss, some of that money flew out of Pax River, from the same complex the concert's in now.
Where you been, man? What? Remember you said I could do this? I can't do this.
Look at all those people out there.
You're gonna be fine.
Come on, let's get you ready.
Hey, DiNozzo.
Nobody's seen Pischedda, but three stagehands are missing, so what are we gonna do? Pull the alarm? No.
It's not a terrorist attack.
This is a heist.
Pischedda hid the money on the base.
He's using the charity concert as cover to get it out.

Right Bishop, there is something about the concert itself that Oh, it's happening, isn't it? Tony and McGee warned me about this.
Wow.
I have no idea what's going on, but Shh! Shh, shh, shh.
Okay.
Hurry up, guys, let's go.
This is way better than sitting in a cubicle.
So how much money did they recover? $10 million.
The bad guys took the money from the hangar and buried it.
When they went to go retrieve it, the complex had been expanded, so the money was trapped underneath a newly-poured concrete slab.
Pischedda must have taken years trying to figure out how to get it out.

:37:34
Let me tell you somethin'.
Whatever it is,

:37:38
it's the most amazing thing
any of us is ever gonna see.

:37:49
You've played around
with this thing, haven't you?

:37:54
Now, why would I do something like that?

:37:57
Robotic link engaged.

:37:59
Transporing possible
biohazard to quarantine.

:38:02
Of course I didn't tell you.

:38:05
I'm a treasure hunter.

:38:08
There's two parts to that job -
finding it and keeping it.

:38:12
And keeping it's a lot harder!

:38:15
I intercepted a stray transmission
three years ago.

:38:18
Ice miners.

:38:19
They'd dug something up
on a rogue moon.

:38:22
I didn't know what it was,
but I didn't need to.

:38:25
Just knowing where was enough. Frozen.

:38:29
In the middle of a rogue moon.

:38:31
I knew whatever they'd found

:38:34
was a lot older than that moon.

:38:37
So I did the research, grabbed
some of my friends, and we went hunting.

:38:42
And then I found the Titan 37.

:38:46
There were no signs of the miners,

:38:48
no signs of anything.

:38:51
My friends blamed me
and they took my ship.

:38:54
I stayed on, took my time,

:38:56
searching every inch

:38:59
and then searching again.

:39:04
And then I found the treasure.

:39:08
And now there's nothing to stop us.

:39:11
- Us?
- Yeah, us.

:39:13
You know how much
the government'll pay for this?

:39:16
Who knows what new technologies
it could lead to?

:39:19
We'll all be in on it.

:39:21
If you guys help me out here,
I'll cut you in for five per cent.

:39:25
- Each.
- Five per cent each, huh?

:39:27
How about we give you that?
I found it last.

:39:29
Am I missing something?
We don't even know what it is.

:39:32
It's either human-made or it's not.

:39:34
It's not man-made.
It was buried in an ice moon.

:39:37
Look, there's no question. This is it.
Primary contact.

:39:40
- It's been a dream for thousands of years.
- Exactly.

:39:44
I'm not sure we shouldn't
blow it out the closest airlock.

:39:47
Do you have any idea
what you're saying?

I'm saying I don't know what it is,
and nothing you've said indicates you do.

Nick: I'm saying I don't know what the hell it is and nothing you've shown me or told me indicates that you do either. Maybe it is an alien artifact, maybe it's a magic trick. Maybe it's a distillation of knowledge from an advanced civilization, maybe it's just a toy, an alien's child toy.

Danika: Or an alien sex object; it looks like...

Nick: [Interrupts] Or maybe it was something so dangerous that the only way someone could finally get rid of it was by burying it... maybe... it has no business being on this ship.

HAWKES: What the hell's going on here?

ROSS: Colonel McQueen, Lieutenant Hawkes, you are to be detained for loyalty questioning.

DAMPHOUSSE: What is this? Just because they are invitros?

VANSEN: This is a disgrace, to them and us.

McQUEEN: Here are your orders. Do not read them until an hour into your mission.

VANSEN: Commodore, if they're taken away we don't board this ship.

McQUEEN: Vansen, get on board. ... I expect you all to do your duty.

Hawkes and McQueen are led away by M.P.s and the 58th board the transport.

The transport is approaching a space installation near the Earth's moon.

58th walk through the installation.

WEST: No one said it was on Chaput's orders.

CWIRKO: And how'd we know Hawkes and McQueen didn't do anything?

DAMPHOUSSE: Hawkes went through the academy with us. He never displayed suspicious behaviour.

VANSEN: Well there was that thing with the She-male magazine.

DAMPHOUSSE: Okay, but he explained it.

Senator Clinton’s Statement About Her Candidacy for President

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: January 20, 2007

The statement issued Saturday by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrat of New York, on her Web site, www.hillaryclinton.com, about her candidacy for president in 2008:

I'm in. And I'm in to win.

Today I am announcing that I will form an exploratory committee to run for president.

And I want you to join me not just for the campaign but for a conversation about the future of our country -- about the bold but practical changes we need to overcome six years of Bush administration failures.

I am going to take this conversation directly to the people of America, and I'm starting by inviting all of you to join me in a series of Web chats over the next few days.

The stakes will be high when America chooses a new president in 2008.

As a senator, I will spend two years doing everything in my power to limit the damage George W. Bush can do. But only a new president will be able to undo Bush's mistakes and restore our hope and optimism.

Only a new president can renew the promise of America -- the idea that if you work hard you can count on the health care, education and retirement security that you need to raise your family. These are the basic values of America that are under attack from this administration every day.

And only a new president can regain America's position as a respected leader in the world.

I believe that change is coming November 4, 2008. And I am forming my exploratory committee because I believe that together we can bring the leadership that this country needs. I'm going to start this campaign with a national conversation about how we can work to get our country back on track.

This is a big election with some very big questions. How do we bring the war in Iraq to the right end? How can we make sure every American has access to adequate health care? How will we ensure our children inherit a clean environment and energy independence? How can we reduce the deficits that threaten Social Security and Medicare?

No matter where you live, no matter what your political views, I want you to be a part of this important conversation right at the start. So to begin, I'm going to spend the next several days answering your questions in a series of live video Web discussions.

Starting Monday, January 22, at 7 p.m. EST for three nights in a row, I'll sit down to answer your questions about how we can work together for a better future. And you can participate live at my Web site. Sign up to join the conversation here.

I grew up in a middle-class family in the middle of America, where I learned that we could overcome every obstacle we face if we work together and stay true to our values.

I have worked on issues critical to our country almost all my life. I've fought for children for more than 30 years. In Arkansas, I pushed for education reform. As first lady, I helped to expand health care coverage to millions of children and to pass legislation that dramatically increased adoptions. I also traveled to China to affirm that women's rights are human rights.

And in the Senate, I have worked across party lines to get billions more for children's health care, to stop the president's plan to privatize Social Security, and to make sure the victims and heroes of 9/11 and our men and women in uniform receive the fair treatment they deserve. In 2006, I led the successful fight to make Plan B contraception available to women without a prescription.

I have spent a lifetime opening opportunities for tens of millions who are working hard to raise a family: new immigrants, families living in poverty, people who have no health care or face an uncertain retirement.

The promise of America is that all of us will have access to opportunity, and I want to run a 2008 campaign that renews that promise, a campaign built on a lifetime record of results.

I have never been afraid to stand up for what I believe in or to face down the Republican machine. After nearly $70 million spent against my campaigns in New York and two landslide wins, I can say I know how Washington Republicans think, how they operate, and how to beat them.

I need you to be a part of this campaign, and I hope you'll start by joining me in this national conversation.

As we campaign to win the White House, we will make history and remake our future. We can only break barriers if we dare to confront them, and if we have the determined and committed support of others.

This campaign is our moment, our chance to stand up for the principles and values that we cherish; to bring new ideas, energy, and leadership to a uniquely challenging time. It's our chance to say 'we can' and 'we will.'

Let's go to work. America's future is calling us.

History of Soviet and Russian espionage in the United States

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since the late 1920s, the Soviet Union, through its OGPU and NKVD intelligence services, used Russians and foreign-born nationals as well as Communist, and people of American origin to perform espionage activities in the United States. These various espionage networks had contact with various U.S. government agencies, transmitting to Moscow information that would have been deemed confidential.

DAMPHOUSSE: It's like a masterpiece painting, deep blues, aquas, white clouds.

HAYDEN: I was born blind, six months before they discovered the gene transfer cure. With the help of the opti-scanner I can sense things, but how do you describe it to someone who has never seen.

DAMPHOUSSE: It makes me feel insignificant and supreme at the same time.

WEST: With all due respect, Madam Ambassador, there will be nothing to describe if we surrender to the enemy.

HAYDEN: You think communication is surrender?

WEST: Did they try to communicate with the Vesta and Tellus Colonies? You were on the Aerotech board of governors, don't the lives of the colonists mean anything? We've seen them butcher our wounded, begging for help.

HAYDEN: The American Indians did the same thing at the time they were seen as aliens. But we know they were defending their land that was being taken.

WEST: And as soon as they surrendered to the settlers the slaughter never ended.

HAYDEN: What were they to do? They were against an enemy they knew they couldn't defeat. ... (to herself) Insignificant and supreme?

Cut to the interview room where the loyalty tests are being administered.

INTERROGATOR: Is your name and rank, Hawkes, Cooper, First Lieutenant?

HAWKES: This thing going to shock me, or something, I get a wrong answer?

Cut to a loading bay. Chaput enters followed by Thompson.

THOMPSON: We're scheduled to take of in fifteen minutes. We'll get you to a secure area on planet. I forgot the security council reports. You should board. I'll be right back.

Before entering the transport, Chaput checks his weapon. It's dark inside the transport. Hawkes is waiting inside with a weapon pointed a Chaput.

CHAPUT: Who are you? ... What are you doing here?

McQueen enters.

McQUEEN: Cooper, listen, drop the weapon.

HAWKES: I can't. I want to ... but I can't.

McQueen comes closer and joins Chaput.

McQUEEN: They've done something to you. I think it was when you took the loyalty oath. They're making you do this.

McQueen moves passed Chaput and closer to Hawkes, putting himself in the line of fire.

McQUEEN: What is it, makes you fire? An image? A sound?

HAWKES: I don't know.

McQUEEN: If it was just the sight of him, he'd be dead. Well, what triggers you?

HAWKES: I don't know.

It's a transmitter. It's a radio for speaking to God.

:43:25
And it's within my reach.

:43:29
You want to talk to God?

:43:32
Let's go see him together.
I've got nothing better to do!

:43:37
Doctor Indy! Come back home now!

:43:43
Next time, Indiana Jones, it will
take more than children to save you.

Regulus Missile Mail

On June 8, 1959, the US Navy fired a Regulus I missile from the USS Barbero (SSG-317) and directed it to land at the Naval Auxiliary Air Station at Mayport, Florida, near Jacksonville. While the sub was docked at Norfolk, Virginia, Postmaster General Arthur Summerfield helped place two blue and red metal containers, holding 3,000 letters, inside the sub’s missile prior to the flight.

The missile was fired from the submarine shortly before noon and arrived at Mayport twenty-two minutes later. The 3,000 letters inside the missile were identical letters from the Postmaster General that were addressed to President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, cabinet members and top federal officials, all members of congress, Supreme Court justices, U.S. governors, postmasters generals from around the world and the officers and crew of the Barbero. Summerfield’s letter was an enthusiastic announcement of the experiment, which had not been publicly announced beforehand. Summerfield’s office received several letters from stamp collectors who complained that they had not been given the opportunity to place items aboard the flight. In the four decades since the flight, some of the Regulus I letters have found their way into public hands. Some made their way to dealers that year and were sold at over $100. The letter addressed to the secretary of the Smithsonian Institution remains in the National Postal Museum’s collections.

Ostensibly an experiment in communication transportation, the Regulus’ mail flight sent a subtle signal that in the midst of the Cold War, the US military was capable of such accuracy in missile flight that it could be considered for use by the post office. The missile employed a then state-of-the-art guidance system that could precisely deliver a thermonuclear weapon from a distance of 600 miles. The trip from the USS Barbero to Mayport was only 100 miles in distance, but it helped to illustrate another possible use for the weapons technology. The space used for the containers was space that was originally designed to hold the missile’s nuclear warhead.

Postmaster General Summerfield was ecstatic over the possibilities of postal uses for the technology, claiming that “This peacetime employment of a guided missile for the important and practical purpose of carrying mail, is the first known official use of missiles by any Post Office Department of any nation. Before man reaches the moon, mail will be delivered within hours from New York to California, to Britain, to India or Australia by guided missiles.” Summerfield’s enthusiasm notwithstanding, the 1959 USS Barbero test firing was the only incidence of using a missile to carry mail in the US.

NCIS: Los Angeles

Fallout

Episode 508

DEEKS: So we have a "master thief," and then we have the "other guy." I'm just saying, for partners, it's clearly an imbalance of perceived value.

KENSI: Running low on self-esteem, are we?

DEEKS: Maybe.

ERIC: The "other guy" got away on his motorcycle.

KENSI: Looks like he took a bullet.

DEEKS: And he's probably looking for medical attention.

KENSI: Right.

ERIC: I'll check the hospitals.

NELL: And Stallworth's last known address was in North Hollywood. I've just downloaded it to your smartphones.

CALLEN: Sam and I will check out Stallworth's place. Kensi, why don't you and the, uh, "other guy" check out the Department of Energy, see what you can find.

KENSI: Of course.

DEEKS: The "other guy, that's great. Just take the rest of my soul, why don't you.

[Off to…]

[Stallworth’s house. Sam and G break in]

CALLEN: Federal agents!

[They check the rooms]

CALLEN: Clear.

[Sam is in a very clean DIY room full of tools and equipment]

SAM: Clear! G, down here!

[G enters]

SAM: Huh.

CALLEN: You having a little tool envy?

[Sam chuckles]

SAM: Hardly. But this is impressive. These guys definitely knew what they were doing. They were building custom tools for their jobs.

[G finds a building plan]

CALLEN: It looks like they were using the cover of an HVAC company to get the layout of their targets.

SAM: I know that look.

CALLEN: It just doesn't make sense. I understand these guys were skilled at what they do...

SAM: The right tools help.

CALLEN: But they're glorified cat burglars. It's a blue-collar operation, it's hands-on, but think about it, the Department of Energy?

SAM: Mm.

CALLEN: It's way above their pay grade. That is not your typical B-and-E.

[Sam nods]

SAM: Hmm.

[Warehouse]

CALLEN: We're missing something.

[Sam groans]

SAM: It's impossible without the legend.

[Eric is just coming in]

ERIC: I'm good, but I'm hardly a legend.

CALLEN: Where's Nell?

ERIC: I think the question is, "Eric, how did you get an I.D. on the shooter?" Answer: I was granted access to the CIA database. In exchange for favors to be called in later. Don't ask.

[He turns his tablet on – a funny Neric-pic appears on screen]

CALLEN: Really?

[Sam chuckles – Eric presses his eyes, draw a circle around Nell’s face]

ERIC: Just a... picture password.

[A “CIA Person of interest appears on screen]

ERIC: Ferat Hadad. He's a member of As-Sai'qa.

SAM: Syrian special forces.

ERIC: The CIA isn't talking, but you get the impression that they want him real bad.

NCIS: Los Angeles

Fallout

Episode 508

[NCIS office. Sam and G are coming in together. Sam has a photo of shelters on his phone]

CALLEN: Ah. Nice cabinets. You built those yourself?

SAM: From scratch.

CALLEN: Wow. How long did that take?

SAM: About a month.

CALLEN: A month?

SAM: Yeah.

CALLEN: Why didn't you just hire a professional?

SAM: I spent a fraction of what it would cost by doing it myself.

CALLEN: Yeah, but you spent quadruple the time a professional would have.

SAM: And what's your point?

CALLEN: Well, my point is that if you'd hired a pro, you could have spent more time doing the things you love.

SAM: Yeah, and by doing it myself, I saved more money for the ones I love.

CALLEN: I just don't get it.

SAM: Of course you don't-- you don't have kids. I mean, what do you spend money on? We have the same salary. Hetty practically gave you a house. And yet I'm always picking up the check.

CALLEN: Who am I to deny your generosity? Besides, this is about your inability to relinquish control and hire a professional.

[Kensi and Deeks arrive- they all sit down at their desks]

KENSI: Am I hearing that Sam is DIY'ing again?

CALLEN: Oh, yeah. He just spent a month building some shelves.

SAM: Cabinets. And it was only a couple of weeks.

CALLEN: Now, you said a month.

DEEKS: Why don't you just hire a professional? Take that time for yourself to relax.

CALLEN: Exactly.

SAM: This coming from another one who lives alone.

DEEKS: What?

SAM: Building relaxes me. Besides, it's good for a man to know that he can create with his hands.

CALLEN: I use my hands. I use my hands to pick up the phone and call a professional. And then I use my hand to use my credit card and pay that professional.

SAM: Where's the fun in that?

DEEKS: I'll tell you where the fun is. The fun is in the, uh, mojitos that we're sipping while the guy that we're paying is doing the work.

CALLEN: That's what I'm talking about.

DEEKS: That's what I'm talking about.

KENSI: No, I totally agree with Sam. A woman likes a guy who can build things; it's sexy. It stems from a primal attraction for shelter.

DEEKS: I built a tree house once--how is that for sexy?

SAM: I guarantee that's not still standing.

DEEKS: Maybe not, but it's where I lost my...

KENSI: TMI!!

DEEKS: Grip-- I was gonna say it's where I lost my grip, fell down, broke my coccyx-- I got a scar; you want to see it?

KENSI: No.

[Phones start buzzing –repeated buzzing]

DEEKS: Whoa.

CALLEN: Is that...Morse code? "We – got - a - case."
