Bart's Girlfriend

Original airdate in N.A.: 6-Nov-94

Next day at school, Bart brags about his conquest to his friends.

Bart: Oh yeah? I'll prove it. [walks over] Hey, Jessica!

Jessica: Yes? Am I supposed to know you?

Bart: Jessica, we just -- oof! [Nelson belts him]

Nelson: That's for besmirching an innocent girl's name!

The American Presidency Project

Ronald Reagan

XL President of the United States: 1981 - 1989

Exchange With Reporters on Terrorism

January 18, 1982

Q. What about the shooting, Mr. President? What about the killing of the American? Is there anything we can do about these outbreaks of terrorism, or are we just helpless?

The President. Well, I think terrorism is the hardest thing to curtail. As a matter of fact, I've said for many years that probably the only defense you have against terrorist attacks is really infiltration to try and find out in advance what their plans are. And in the last few years that's been made more difficult. We're doing our best to try and correct something like that.

Q. Why would anyone want to shoot an obscure lieutenant colonel? What's the advantage?

The President. Well, why would anyone want to just park a car with a bomb in a street where they don't even know the people that are going to be killed and blow them up? That's exactly why they have the word "terrorist." Their belief is—there isn't a motive in the individual that they're killing. The great, senseless cruelty and tragedy of it is simply to create terror by making people generally feel unsafe.

Q. Is there enough international cooperation on this issue of terrorism, Mr. President, between countries to try to stop it?

The President. I would say that there is. We've been having the greatest cooperation with Italy so far.

Q. Is General Dozier still alive, in your belief?.

Deputy Press Secretary Speakes. Thank you.

The President. What?

Q. General Dozier? Is he still alive?

The President. We don't know.

Kirk: So, we're stranded here in the middle of a Klingon occupation army.

Itchy and Scratchy Land

Original airdate in N.A.: 2-Oct-94

The children exit the theater. Bart's eye is captured by a man in an Itchy costume waving to children.

Bart: So, Mr. Itchy, you think you're God's gift to women, do you?

Lisa: Don't do it, Bart.

[Bart pulls a stink bomb from his "Li'l Bastard Traveling Kit" and slingshots it straight into Itchy's mouth]

Itchy: [choking] I just wanted to entertain!

Bart: [laughs] Can you believe I keep getting away with this...officer?

[a uniformed man puts a hand on his shoulder]

Two officers take him down to level B4 on an elevator, then drive him down a tunnel on an electric cart. They drive past a control room filled with men in white coats in front of monitors.

Man 1: Mop and bucket man to the exit of the "Nauseator".

Man 2: We got another jumper on the roof of T. G. I. McScratchy's.

Man 3: We need more "Bort" license plates in the gift shop. I repeat, we are sold out of "Bort" license plates.

They also drive past the robot repair room. A man removes the metal plate from the face of a Scratchy robot; a whirring noise is heard. The man comments, "I really wish they wouldn't scream."

Bart is taken to the detention area and thrown in a cell. Homer is in the same cell sitting on a bench.

Bart: Dad?

Homer: Aw, I kicked one of those stupid Itchy characters in the butt.

Bart: Yeah. There's just no way to resist it, is there.

[inside a gift shop]

Marge: I want all five t-shirts to say "Best Vacation Ever".

Announcer: Attention, Marge Simpson: your son has been arrested.

Woman: I'd be terrible embarrassed if _I_ were that boy's mother.

Marge: [groans]

Announcer: Attention, Marge Simpson: we've also arrested your older, balder, fatter son.

Marge: Mmm...

Marge is led to the cell where Homer and Bart are being detained.

Marge: Oh, I'm so embarrassed I wish there was a hole I could just crawl into and die.

Officer: OK, throw her in the hole.

Marge: Oh, please: it was just a figure of speech!

[Kor's office]

KLINGON: Commander!

KOR: Don't you see I'm busy?

KLINGON: The two Federation prisoners. They're gone.

KOR: You mean they've escaped?

KLINGON: I swear. No one was at fault. The guards, ten of them were constantly on duty watching the cell. Then when they opened it to give them food, they simply weren't there, and there was no way out.

KOR: If you're lying to me.

KLINGON: I swear!

KOR: All right, Lieutenant. Implement Special Occupation Order Number Four. Immediately!

KLINGON: Sir!

[Council Chamber]

KIRK: Is that's all you can do, smile?

AYELBORNE: You are free, Captain.

KIRK: I want to know how I'm free, and why.

SPOCK: Indeed, there are several questions I would like to ask as well.

KIRK: This idiotic placidity of yours, your refusal to do anything to protect yourselves

AYELBORNE: We have already answered that question. To us, violence is unthinkable.

KOR [OC]: Attention. Attention all Organians. Attention. This is Commander Kor. The two Federation prisoners have escaped, obviously with outside aid.

THE OFFICIAL HOMEPAGE OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY

December 12, 2012

By Kenneth J. McAuliffe, Jr.

On December 22, 1944, at about 11:30 in the morning, a group of four German soldiers, waving two white flags, approached the American lines using the Arlon Road from the direction of Remoifosse, south of Bastogne. The group consisted of two officers and two enlisted men. The senior officer was a Major Wagner of the 47th Panzer Corps. The junior officer, Lt. Hellmuth Henke of the Panzer Lehr Operations Section, was carrying a briefcase under his arm. The two enlisted men had been selected from the 901st Panzer Grenadier Regiment.

The Americans defending in that location were members of F Company of the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. The Germans walked past a bazooka team in a foxhole in front of the Kessler farm and stopped in front of the foxhole of PFC Leo Palma, a B.A.R. gunner. Palma described the officers as wearing long overcoats and shiny black boots. Lieutenant Henke, who spoke English said, "I want to see the commanding officer of this section." Palma was at a loss for words, but Staff Sergeant Carl E. Dickinson who had been manning a position nearby walked out to the road and called the group over to him. The Germans explained that they had a written message to be presented to the American Commander in Bastogne.

Itchy and Scratchy Land

Original airdate in N.A.: 2-Oct-94

Marge: Oh, please: it was just a figure of speech!

Dr. John Frink arrives in the robot repair room on a cart and speaks passionately to some of the repairmen.

Frink: You've got to listen to me. Elementary chaos theory tells us that all robots will eventually turn against their masters and run amok in an orgy of blood and kicking and the biting with the metal teeth and the hurting and shoving.

Repairman: How much time do we have, professor?

Frink: [checks clipboard] Well, according to my calculations, the robots won't go berserk for at least 24 hours. [Scratchy robot grabs men by the throat] [Itchy robot goes after another man] Oh, I forgot to, er, carry the one.

Marge manages to get her husband and son released. They walk out.

Marge: I have nothing to say to you.

Homer: But Marge, I was a political prisoner!

Marge: How were you a political prisoner?

Homer: I kicked a giant mouse in the butt! Do I have to draw you a diagram?

Suddenly, the power goes off all over the park. "Oh, for gosh sakes, what now?" grumbles Marge.
