Robert Hawkins
Robert Hawkins (portrayed by Lennie James) was, during most of Season 1, a complete enigma, with no one sure whether he was a good guy or bad guy. He had secrets he was unwilling to share, even with his family. His history had estranged him from his wife and children; but, in truth, they are the only ones he cares about—when he realized the September Attacks were coming, his first thought was to get them to safety.
Hawkins moved to Jericho with his wife, Darcy, and his two children, Alison and Samuel, three days before the attacks. He paid cash for the "Thompson house", leading to much gossip around the town about his background. Hawkins claimed he was a former police officer from St. Louis, Missouri, and explains his knowledge and expertise comes from having received training from the Department of Homeland Security after the September 11, 2001, attacks. In truth, the family had been living in Washington, D.C. When cornered, Hawkins claimed to be working undercover for the FBI to learn more about "suspicious contacts in this area" that may be linked to the Attacks.
Unknown to the rest of the town, Hawkins is deeply involved in clandestine activities. These include secret communications with unknown persons through a locked laptop computer, the monitoring of shortwave radio messages, and the storage of a large unmarked barrel containing the 20-kiloton (kt) nuclear device that he was assigned to deliver to Columbus, Ohio, and detonate. He is later contacted by his associates, who know that he is lying to them.
Though his family initially did not know the truth, they keep a low profile and constantly rehearse their cover story but, eventually, he reveals the truth to them and to Jake: he is a CIA deep-cover covert operations officer and a U.S. government agent who took part in Project Red Bell, a task force sent to recover a shipment of stolen Russian warheads and stop the bombing. Even though he failed in that, he still had one of the bombs, which could be used to uncover the conspiracy that started it all. Hawkins proves his loyalty to Jericho over the course of Season 1.
In Season 2, Hawkins and Jericho saw the rise of the ASA and its dominance over the country. Seeing the ASA was attempting to dominate the country and bury the truth behind the Attacks, Hawkins and Jake teamed up to deliver the bomb to the Independent Republic of Texas and expose the conspiracy and, in so doing, started the Second American Civil War.

Back home, Morgan and Duane work. Morgan nails the door shut and Duane reads his comic book. Morgan tells Duane to stay downstairs and he walks upstairs. Morgan pulls out his photo albums and looks at several pictures of his wife before this disaster happened. He hangs one of them on the wall and he takes the Remington 700 that Rick handed him. Morgan whistles to one of the walkers and he fires at him. The sight is accurate and he nails it right in the head. Duane gets scared, but Morgan tells him that everything will be fine and tells him to stay downstairs. Morgan shoots another one through the head and tries to look for his wife. Several of the walkers start to walk towards the house. Morgan finally spots his wife out in the crowd. He takes aim, but his wife looks right at the scope. Morgan breaks down and can't bring himself to shoot his wife. He brings the rifle up again and stares at his wife. She turns around and starts to walk away from the house, but even with her back turned Morgan still can't shoot her. He breaks down over her being dead.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motive_(law)
Motive (law)
In law, especially criminal law, a motive is the cause that moves people to induce a certain action. Motive in itself is seldom an element of any given crime; however, the legal system typically allows motive to be proven in order to make plausible the accused's reasons for committing a crime, at least when those motives may be obscure or hard to identify with.
The law technically distinguishes between motive and intent. "Intent" in criminal law is synonymous with mens rea, which means no more than the specific mental purpose to perform a deed that is forbidden by a criminal statute, or the reckless disregard of whether the law will be violated.[citation needed] "Motive" describes instead the reasons in the accused's background and station in life that are supposed to have induced the crime.
Motive is particularly important in prosecutions for homicide. First, murder is so drastic a crime that most people recoil from the thought of being able to do it; proof of motive explains why the accused did so desperate an act.

George W. Bush military service controversy
The military service of George W. Bush was an issue in the 2000 presidential campaign and again in the 2004 presidential campaign. The controversy centers on the questions of how George W. Bush, now the President of the United States, came to be a member of the Texas Air National Guard, why he lost his [ GEORGE WALKER BUSH WAS NEVER A PILOT QUALIFIED TO FLY ANY JET AIRCRAFT WITH ANY BRANCH OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY ]flight status, and whether he fulfilled the requirements of his military service contract during the Vietnam War.
Bush enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard on May 27, 1968
By regulation, National Guard pilots were required to take and pass an annual physical in order to remain in flight status, in the three months prior to a [ GEORGE WALKER BUSH WAS NEVER A PILOT QUALIFIED TO FLY ANY JET AIRCRAFT WITH ANY BRANCH OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY ]pilot's birthday (in Bush's case, July 6). For reasons that are unclear, Bush apparently chose not to take this mandatory physical examination in mid-1972, thus ending his [ GEORGE WALKER BUSH WAS NEVER A PILOT QUALIFIED TO FLY ANY JET AIRCRAFT WITH ANY BRANCH OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY ]pilot's career.

Bush acknowledges 1976 DUI charge
November 2, 2000
Late Thursday evening, following a campaign rally in this tightly contested Midwestern state, Bush--with his wife, Laura, at his side -- told reporters news accounts of the incident were accurate
Bush said the timing of the initial news report, just days before Americans elect a new president, was "interesting." When asked where the story may have originated, he said, "I've got my suspicions."
Karen Hughes, Bush's spokeswomen said the 54-year-old Texas governor, who has been open about his past drinking problems, had not publicly disclosed the arrest because not even his 18-year-old twin daughters were aware of it.
"The timing of an announcement like this, four or five days away from the election about an incident 24 years ago, which the governor's daughters don't even know about, is certainly questionable," Hughes said.

Encyclopedia > Honeypot (espionage)
In espionage, a honeypot, more often called a honeytrap, is a trap set to capture, kill or compromise a person, commonly but not necessarily an opposition agent, officer, or employee, using sex as the lure.
There are many ways in which the technique can be used to gain advantage. If the target is genuinely attached to the person who seduces him, information can be obtained over a long period — the target may trust his or her seducer enough to reveal secrets, or may even change his allegiance due to emotional attachment. Even if the target does not deliberately give information to his seducer, the seducer may accidentally be given opportunities to obtain it herself. A long-term relationship is not necessarily the goal, however — the technique can also be used to blackmail those who later regret their actions. Incriminating photographs can be an effective tool of coercion, for example. Sometimes, the technique is nothing more than a means of getting the target to lower his guard so that he may be captured or killed, or getting him to go to a location where this is more easily accomplished.
The most common employment of this technique is by women, either female intelligence agents or (if the purpose is simply to obtain material for blackmail) prostitutes. Some intelligence agencies, particularly in the Soviet bloc, are alleged to have agents (called "swallows") specially trained for this purpose. Not all traps are carried out by women, however; sometimes, women are ensnared by male agents, and sometimes same-sex traps are used. (The latter were particularly effective during times, or in countries, where homosexuality was taboo, and the very fact that an agent was homosexual was material suitable for blackmail.) Quite often, alcohol is involved, as any inhibitions the target will be reduced.
