1996

I recognize the release date listed in the article as being a '3-59' artistic device connected to my return to Earth on 4/14/1977. I believe that is why the song is mentioned in the script for "Fast Times At Ridgemont High."

The period from 4/14/1977 to Friday, 10/10/1980 was 1275 days. That is a time period of 3 years, 5 months, 26 days. 26 divided by 30 equals 0.867. If the album had released on the next day, Saturday, 10/11/1980, then it would have been a precisely 3 years, 5 months, 27 days, after 4/14/1977.

This also reminds me that Microsoft had me assigned as a corporate contact for IBM Consulting Services when I worked there. I remember my IBM commenting about how I was the "guy to know" or words to that effect and I wondered why he was telling that to other IBM employees considering the companies we worked for.

INT. THE CRUISING VESSEL

Brad is driving down the freeway, listening to the music of Bruce Springsteen's "Out in the Streets." He pries open one of the fourteen Catch-of-the-Day boxes on the seat next to him and pulls out a small piece of fried fish. Brad takes a bite. The look on his face says it is the worst piece of shit he has ever tasted. He throws the piece outthe window, and drives on.

Brad turns to see a girl smiling at him from another car. It makes his afternoon. He returns the smile with gusto.

ANGLE ON THE GIRL

as she bursts out laughing and drives away.

ANGLE ON BRAD

looking perplexed. Then he realizes that he hasn't taken his Ponce de Leon hat off. Brad drives on.

A SERIES OF ANGLES ON BRAD'S CAR

as we see the Cruising Vessel move down the highway. We see the Captain Kidd hat go flying out the window. Then the plastic sword, and the scarf. Then a couple boxes of Captain Kidd fish. Then the rest of them. We see Brad rip past the IBM Building.

Released October 10, 1980

The River is a double album by Bruce Springsteen released in 1980

The sources of The River go back aways. "Independence Day", "Point Blank", "The Ties That Bind", "Ramrod", and "Sherry Darling" were leftovers from the previous Darkness album and had been featured on that 1978 tour, as had parts of "Drive All Night" as a long interpolation within "Backstreets". "The River" had been premiered at the 1979 No Nukes concert.

The album was followed by a lengthy tour of North American and Western Europe during 1980 and 1981. Several of the album's up-tempo rockers became concert staples for decades to come, including "Two Hearts", "Cadillac Ranch", "Ramrod", and "Out in the Street" (the last of these was so idealistic that Springsteen almost kept it off the record).

This is very curious. According to information I found on the internet, his birthday is not April 16th, but is actually May 31st. That April 16th date is actually at the mid-point from my birthday and his birthday.

From 3/3/1959 to 5/31/1959 is: 89 days
89 / 2 = 44.5
From 3/3/1959 to 4/16/1959 is: 44 days

INT. BIOLOGY CLASS - AFTERNOON

We see Stacy sitting at her usual seat, and she's wearing a bright spring dress with a slight amount of makeup. She looks at Damone's seat with anticipation, but it remains empty as other students file in. Finally, she turns to The Rat.

STACY
Where's Mike today?

THE RAT
Today's April 16th. Damone never comes to school on April 16th.

STACY
What's April 16th?

THE RAT
It's John Bonham's birthday.

STACY
John Bonham?

THE RAT
John Bonham. The drummer for Led Zeppelin. He died a couple years ago. Every birthday he stays home and plays everything John Bonham ever recorded. It's like his own holiday.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Bonham

John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham (May 31, 1948 – September 25, 1980) was an English drummer and member of the English rock band Led Zeppelin. He was renowned for his power, speed and "feel" for the groove. During his time with Led Zeppelin, Bonham became, arguably, the most respected and influential drummer in rock history. He continues to have influence on many musicians of many styles to this day.

I find this part quite humorous just by itself. I don't see any credits for David Soul on "Fantasy Island" so that piques my curiosity, though. I also ponder over how Ricardo Montalban was in the "Star Trek II" movie in 1982 and also what I wrote about the crew of the first flight of the space shuttle in 1981. Robert Crippen was the pilot of space shuttle flight STS-1 and his middle name is Laurel which reminds me of a girl I dated in Ashdown named Laurel Hutchinson. My memory of Laurel Hutchinson is all artificial and symbolic so it probably relates somehow to this. I also recognize that her character probably reflects my role as a mentor at the U.S. Naval Academy when I was a Midshipman with the Class of 1982. That is consistent with my artificial and symbolic memories of the U.S. Navy.

INT. LINDA'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

It is night, and Linda and Stacy are watching Fantasy Island.

MONTALBAN
You see, Tatoo, what this man doesn't realize is that he must one day leave Fantasy Island. And he must continue his life as an incurable leper.

Stacy is fighting back tears. Linda looks angry.

Telephone rings. Linda jumps to get it.

LINDA
Hello.

Linda obviously is disappointed when she hears a female voice.

LINDA (CONT'D)
Yeah... you're kidding... What did he say... What did you say... How much did it cost? Look, tell him he can have a relationship with you or a 'more open' relationship with someone else... Listen, Debbie, can I call you later. I'm waiting for Doug to call.

She plops back on the couch with Stacy.

LINDA (CONT'D)
I'll bet he forgets to call again.

She notices that Stacy is crying over the TV show.

The premiere date for "Fantasy Island" was 359 days after 1/21/1976, which is the day I recognize as when I first landed on the planet Mars.

From 1/21/1976 to 1/14/1977 is: 359 days

Space Seed

The Enterprise discovers an ancient spaceship carrying Augments from 1996 Earth.

Summary
In 2267, the SS Botany Bay, a DY-100 class starship, was discovered drifting in space by the USS Enterprise. Because of the fragmentary historical records on the era, the Enterprise crew mistook the ship's crew for refugees from the Eugenics Wars. However, the individuals were all genetically-engineered "super-Humans" and their leader was Khan Noonien Singh, one of the worst tyrants ever seen on Earth.
