176 - Remarks on Awarding the Congressional Medal of Honor to Four Members of the Armed Forces.

March 4th, 1976

We are gathered here today to honor four Americans for exceptional military gallantry in the service of our Nation. All four of these men distinguished themselves above and beyond the call of duty. I deeply regret that one of the awards, to the late Captain Lance P. Sijan, of the United States Air Force, is posthumous. The other three, Rear Admiral James P. Stockdale, United States Navy; Colonel George E. Day, United States Air Force; and Lieutenant Thomas R. Norris, United States Naval Reserve, are here with us today.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Archer

Captain Jonathan Archer, played by Scott Bakula, is a fictional character and the protagonist of the television series Star Trek: Enterprise.

Archer is captain of the starship Enterprise from 2151 to 2161, and later President of the United Federation of Planets from 2184 to 2192.

According to a computer display in the episode "In a Mirror, Darkly", historian John Gill considered Archer "the greatest explorer of the 22nd century." The same display states that two planets were named after Archer: Archer IV and Archer's Planet.

The son of famed warp engineer Henry Archer and his wife Sally, Jonathan Archer was born in 2112 in Upstate New York, where he spent most of his formative years

Seasons 1 and 2: The explorer

Archer gets his sea legs. As a man who loves to travel amongst the stars, he realizes being captain is a larger duty than manager and astronomer. Quickly, Archer runs into species from all over the quadrant trying to kill him and his crew. Run-ins with the Mazarites, the Tholians, the Suliban, and the Klingons cause him to become more of a military commander.

In addition, Archer learns the duties of captain should include diplomat. During seasons 1 and 2, he is somewhat uncomfortable with the role, especially in the episode "A Night in Sickbay" where his pet beagle, Porthos, contracts an illness while on an alien world.

While exploring, Archer makes quick enemies of the Klingons on his first mission. In a dispute with the Klingon Empire in 2152, he is convicted and sentenced to exile on Rura Penthe, even though he is innocent of charges and despite the Klingons having acknowledged his previous service to the Empire. With his escape, a bounty is put on Archer's head and tensions with the Klingon Empire increase.

Workforce is a two-part episode from the seventh and final season of the TV series Star Trek: Voyager.

Kathryn Janeway happily shows up for her first day of work at an energy plant.

She befriends a man named Jaffen and soon runs afoul of Annika Hansen, the efficiency monitor. Tuvok, a fellow employee, acts weirdly and claims that they don't belong there. A prominent doctor diagnoses Tuvok with "dysphoria syndrome" and begins treatment.

Tom Paris manages to get himself fired from the energy plant even though there is a labor shortage. He takes a job at a bar, and befriends B'Elanna Torres, a pregnant woman who works at the energy plant.

Meanwhile, Chakotay and Harry Kim return to Voyager from a short mission away to find the ship empty and the Emergency Command Hologram in charge. The ECH explains the situation. The whole crew has been forced off the ship and taken to the planet nearby.

Chakotay has himself surgically altered to look different and goes down to the planet and abducts Torres, but he himself doesn't escape.

Part II

With Neelix's help, Torres begins to remember her life as a starship engineer. On the planet, Chakotay has a tougher time overcoming Janeway's skepticism at his story that she's a starship captain.

A young doctor begins to become suspicious that so many people of the same species have dysphoria syndrome and that almost all of them got jobs at the energy plant. Annika Hansen begins taking Tuvok's rants seriously, and with help from a detective, uncovers the plot.

The Voyager crew returns to the ship.

Fever (1999) is a psychological thriller by Alex Winter.

Nick Parker (Henry Thomas) is a struggling young artist suffering a mental and physical breakdown. When a violent murder happens in his apartment building, it pushes him to the edge of sanity. Suspected by his sister (Terri Hatcher) and tracked by a police detective (Bill Duke), Parker begins to think he may have committed the murder himself except for the appearance of a mysterious drifter (David O'Hara) who has moved in upstairs. Is he a witness or a murderer, and was it all a setup or illusion? The bottom line is: Who can you trust when you can no longer trust yourself?

Reviews

A.O. Scott in The New York Times: Pure Hitchcockian panic. An arresting example of what a talented filmmaker can do with the sparest of means.

Godfrey Cheshire in Variety: An eerie, insinuating tale of urban dread and mental breakdown, [and] reps an impressively sophisticated solo directorial debut.

Dennis Lim in the Village Voice: With the director's impeccably chic expressionism and Henry Thomas's persuasive, dread-soaked performance, Fever sustains a convincingly spooky ambience throughout. Winter achieves a degree of technical polish rare among American independents.

Phil Hall, Film Threat Mediocre thriller about a starving artist suspected of murder.

"Barting Over" is an episode of The Simpsons advertised by FOX to be the 300th episode of the show. It aired on February 16, 2003.

The episode is actually episode number 302 of the series. Episode 300 of The Simpsons is "Strong Arms of The Ma", which aired February 2, 2003, two weeks earlier.

The episode was advertised as 300th because FOX does not count Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire in the episode count, and the episode was also held over so it could air on the same day as the Daytona 500, so eventually it went to air being hyped as the 300th. In the episode, Marge wonders how many times Homer did something crazy and Lisa says it's 300. Marge then says she thought it was 302, to which Lisa says 'Sssh!', referencing the fact that this episode was actually the 302nd.

“Insane in the Mainframe” is the eleventh episode in season three of Futurama. It originally aired April 8, 2001.

While at Big Apple Bank to open a retirement fund, Fry and Bender become involved in a holdup. The criminally insane robot Roberto hands them bags of cash for their trouble, and after he runs off, Fry and Bender are arrested for the robbery. At the trial, Roberto surreptitiously threatens to kill Fry should Fry testify against him. After pleading insanity, both Fry and Bender are sent to the HAL Institute for Criminally Insane Robots.

Once there, the doctors refuse to acknowledge that Fry is human, due to their use of the logic that, if Fry is a patient in a robot asylum, then he must be a robot. Fry is roomed with car-dealer Malfunctioning Eddie, who is undergoing treatment for his exploding problem. Fry perseveres, surviving on food coughed up by a sick vending machine robot.

But just when Fry thinks he is going to be released, he gets a new roommate: the insane bank robber Roberto, who was captured after robbing the same bank again. Shortly after, Fry is released, having been “cured” of his delusion of humanity. Roberto, fed up with life in the asylum, breaks out and takes Bender with him. Back at the Planet Express building, Fry attempts to discover his function as a robot.

A newly escaped Roberto robs the Big Apple Bank a third time, and Bender takes him back to the Planet Express building to hide out. New New York police surround the building, and Roberto takes the staff hostage. Fry, now convinced that he is a battle droid, takes on Roberto, who jumps out a window and is apprehended by the police. Fry, seeing that he was cut by Roberto, realizes that he is human.

Original airdate in N.A.: 28-Oct-93

So the Reaper feels he has no choice but to sentence Homer to an eternity. But Marge runs in with a photo of Homer and her at her wedding. It's a picture of Homer choking in an emergency room, and Marge explains that Homer ate the entire wedding cake by himself before the wedding. The jury find this roundly amusing. But she hastily tells them, "Read the back!"

Blackbeard: {[looking at the photo] Arr, 'tis some kind of treasure map!}

Arnold: {You idiot! You can't read.}

Blackbeard: {Aye, 'tis true. My debauchery was my way of compensatin'!}

-- No brain cells left, "Treehouse of Horror IV"

Arnold reads, "Dear Marge: you have given me your hand in marriage. All I can give you in return is my...soul, which I pledge to you forever." Lizzie announces, "We've heard enough. Your Honor, we find that Homer Simpson's soul is legally the property of Marge Simpson and not of the devil." The devil is despondent, but Bart and Lisa are elated.

The judge and jury disappear in a puff.

"El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)", also known as The Mysterious Voyage of Our Homer,[2] is the ninth episode of the eighth season of The Simpsons, which originally aired January 5, 1997.[3] The episode sees Homer eat an "Insanity Pepper" and go on a mysterious voyage, which features surreal animation to depict the elaborate hallucination. It was written by Ken Keeler, directed by Jim Reardon[3] and features Johnny Cash in a guest spot as the "Space Coyote".

Homer starts off the day by trying to read his morning paper, only to discover a large section is missing. He questions the family, but everyone denies doing it, even Marge, who is holding a pair of scissors. Lenny later calls asking Homer if he would need a ride that afternoon, to which Homer asks why. As he is trying to hear what Lenny is saying, Marge turns on the vacuum cleaner, and disconnects the phone jack with it.

Marge starts acting suspiciously by smoking cigarettes, and Homer decides to go for a walk outside and smells chili, causing him to suddenly remember the annual Chili Cook-Off. Marge admits that she had tried to keep Homer from going because of Homer's behavior at the previous year's event. He got extremely drunk and got inside of a cotton candy maker yelling, "Look at me! I'm a puffy pink cloud!"

After some begging, Marge allows Homer to go, with the condition that he not drink any beer. While at the cook-off Homer demonstrates an extraordinary ability to withstand hot foods, until he falls victim to Chief Wiggum's chili which is spiked with "The Merciless Peppers of Quetzlzacatenango." At first unable to eat the fantastically hot peppers, Homer eventually eats several of them after coating the inside of his mouth with candle wax.

The peppers bring on a hallucination in which Homer is trapped in a bizarre fantasy world. He encounters a large snake, a gigantic butterfly, a tortoise and he even destroys the sun. Homer finally arrives at a large pyramid and meets his spirit guide - a coyote. The coyote advises Homer to find his soulmate, and questions Homer's assumption that he has already found her in Marge. Meanwhile, Marge hears of Homer's strange behavior and believes that he broke his promise and drank beer. She angrily gathers the kids and drives home.

The next day, Homer regains his senses while lying in a golf course sand trap. He rationalizes his dream, comparing the desert he wandered in to the real life location, and the talking coyote with a passing talking dog. After returning home, he finds Marge angry with him for odd behavior at the cook-off. Homer then makes note of their fundamental personality differences. Filled with doubt, he searches elsewhere for a soulmate, yet fails in each instance.

Eventually he becomes convinced that the lighthouse keeper might be his soulmate, since they would both be theoretically lonely individuals, but instead finds the lighthouse is operated by a machine. Seeing a ship, Homer destroys the lighthouse's light in hopes that it will cause the boat to come closer. Suddenly Marge arrives, having known exactly where Homer would go, and she and Homer realize that they share a profound mystical understanding and decide that they really are soulmates.

Meanwhile, the ship runs aground, spilling its precious cargo of hot pants. The citizens of Springfield happily retrieve the pants while Marge and Homer embrace
