We are introduced to Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, co-founders and lead investigators for The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS). Their Technical Manager, Brian Harnois, tells them of an interesting case. The home they are to investigate is in Altoona, PA which is several hours away, but because of the dramatic nature of the case they decide to make the long drive.

They investigate reports of poltergeist activity in a home with a very young girl who seems to see the spirits. After uncovering some dramatic Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) they return to the site and inform Brenda, the girl's mother, of their findings.

While driving one evening, Harold Pelham appears possessed and has a car accident. While on the operating table, there even appears to be two heartbeats on the monitor. When he awakes, Pelham finds his life has been turned upside-down: he learns that he now supports a merger that he once opposed, and that he apparently is having an affair. People claim they have seen him in places that he has never been. Does Pelham have a doppelganger - or is he going insane?

Gates: Smile Would Have Helped, But He Told Truth

WASHINGTON - Bill Gates said he wished he'd smiled more during his videotaped deposition taken before the Microsoft antitrust trial started, but that he stands by all of his answers' to questions posed by government prosecutors.

Gates, speaking to reporters here via satellite today, doused speculation that Microsoft lawyers would call him a witness. He challenged the government to put him on the stand. So far, neither side has him on the witness list.

UNION, S.C. — While the authorities searched for her young sons, Susan Smith watched herself lie to the nation on a taped television newscast, and even smiled at the television screen, a counselor who had come to help her testified Monday in the penalty phase of Smith's capital murder trial.

The counselor, Margaret Frierson, recalled that Smith's incongruous smile occurred during the final days of her nine days of lies, as news reporters were beginning to speculate that Smith might be involved in the disappearance that she had blamed on a carjacker.

''The family was outraged,'' said Frierson, who works in the Columbia, S.C., office of the Adam Walsh Foundation, a center for missing and exploited children. ''I just seemed to notice Susan smiling to herself as she watched herself on television.''

Plot Summary for

Ghost of the Town (1952)


In this pun-title cartoon (from Toast of the Town) Casper, the friendly ghost, is banished from Ghost Town/Heaven/Territory, because he refuses to frighten living people. He saves a baby from a burning building and is acclaimed a hero and is appearing on a television show. His fellow ghosts see the program and are afraid he will ruin the ghost business, and fly to the television studio. However, Casper tells the audience that the ghosts are there to entertain them, and the people laugh. The mayor gives Casper a skeleton-key to the city.
