Don't be surprised if Brad Pitt pops up at a movie theater near you.

Just days after the superstar surprised filmgoers in New Jersey by showing up to introduce a screening of his new action thriller World War Z, he did the same last night in London.

"This has been a long time coming, this film," he said to the crowd, which included fans and media covering tonight's WWZ premiere. "And I think we've got something original. I think we've got something genre-bending. I think we've got something terribly realistic for summer fare. I'll let you guys decide."


In the movie adaption of Max Brooks' novel, World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, Pitt plays a former United Nations investigator who is enlisted to help save the world from zombies.

Movies don’t come bigger than this, and zombie flicks tend to come an awful lot smaller. In Shaun of the Dead, the undead had to content themselves with snacking off a handful of British actors in a deserted pub. Here, it’s the future of humanity at stake.

This time, Brad Pitt is here to save us, and the skies are soon full of crashing helicopters, screaming jets and stuntpeople being sucked out of aircraft.


If I were a senior Paramount executive, I would be afraid. Very, very afraid.

In a high-six-figure deal, Paramount Pictures acquired screen rights to the Max Brooks novel “World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War.” Brad Pitt’s Plan B will produce.

Brooks’ follow-up to satire “The Zombie Survial Guide” sparked a bidding battle, with Warner Bros. and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way on the other side of the table from Par and Pitt.

Book is a sober telling of the aftermath of a war fought against a legion of humans who were inflicted with a virus, died and were reanimated into flesh-eating zombies.

“World War Z” will be published in the fall by Crown.

WASHINGTON - Bill Gates said he wished he'd smiled more during his videotaped deposition taken before the Microsoft antitrust trial started, but that he stands by all of his answers' to questions posed by government prosecutors.

Gates, speaking to reporters here via satellite today, doused speculation that Microsoft lawyers would call him a witness. He challenged the government to put him on the stand. So far, neither side has him on the witness list.

The Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda (German: Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda or Propagandaministerium) was Nazi Germany's ministry that enforced Nazi Party ideology in Germany and regulated its culture and society. Founded on March 13, 1933, by Adolf Hitler's new National Socialist government, the Ministry was headed by Dr. Joseph Goebbels and was responsible for controlling the press and culture of Nazi Germany.


Speeches were also used to great effect by the German Government. Goebbels commented on Hitler's first speech as Chancellor: "It will have great propaganda value...be used and viewed in cinemas for years to come...what an achievement."
