Well, it seems a missionary of sorts came through the Gate yesterday and started spouting a religion we haven't encountered before—I mean, not that we have a problem with people exploring different faiths.

MITCHELL
(still concentrating on Daniel and Vala)
I suspect we'll see a lot of opportunists try to fill the void by the Goa'uld, sir.

LANDRY
Hmm. This new found freedom is quickly going to bring about desperation if people don't learn to fend for themselves. A lot of these, uh shall we say, "sheltered civilizations" could potentially be taken advantage of by a charlatan with a flashy bag of tricks.

MITCHELL
(looking at Landry)
And in this case?

LANDRY
(scoffing)
Well, this missionary's apparently trying to prove the validity of his claims by performing miracles.

MITCHELL

VALA

[Lam hands the chart back to Vala and moves around a patient's bedside, checking monitors.]

LAM
The virus is shutting down his internal organs. He can't process toxins within his own system. He's essentially being poisoned to death.

CARTER
(on cell phone)

(She closes the phone)

BARRETT
You've got to be kidding me. Come on, we know where he is. We've got him.

CARTER
Yes, Ba'al has made it easier for us to pinpoint his location. But unfortunately, by going public, he's made it more difficult for us to take him down quickly and covertly. We make a move against him now, and we risk a media circus. Unless, of course, you feel like giving the American people a Stargate primer.

DANIEL
There's also the little matter of a naquadah bomb sitting somewhere in the continental United States.

Crossroads

I have been undecided about describing my situation in a blog. Nothing else is working though, so I might as well.

I choose to title my blog Homeless Veteran of Microsoft because my journey into this world of hurt began there, at Microsoft. I suspect most of you reading this already know the story. Maybe you don't, maybe you would lie to me rather than admit you do. Either way, I only need one of you to tell the truth. At this point, I just need one person to step forward and serve as a witness.

I need someone to admit they have been spying on me all these years. Either by spying on me directly, or by receiving the information about me the spies have been disclosing.

I am not sure if this first post will actually be my last. I am comtemplating bailing out of this homeless shelter and going back to the streets, sleeping in the tall grass at night. I hate it here. All these years of having people spy on me every minute of the day just makes me feel claustrophobic in enclosed places like this. At least being homeless on the streets I have some semblance of freedom. When you lose every shred of your private life, any freedom you can find is very valuable. But I may stay around here a couple more days, hopefully tomorrow will be the day someone finally acknowledges that they have been hijacking my private life. Maybe tomorrow.

And if you think this is all funny and you enjoy seeing other people suffer, then the hell with you. If the truth be told, I sort of envy you. Life must be very uncomplicated for people like you and all the others that are spying on me. Life is uncomplicated for people with the empathy of a sociopath.

[On a television screen, Donovan walks down a street giving a news report.]

DONOVAN
At present, there are more questions than answers in the events surrounding the gas explosion that claimed the Halcyon Tower in downtown Seattle. What we do know so far is that at approximately 12:45 this afternoon, local fire and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. An evacuation order was given, and the building and surrounding areas were evacuated. Two hours later, when reporters were permitted to return to the area, all that remained was a heap of rubble. Surrounded as it was by taller high rises, there were no eyewitnesses to the building's destruction—no one saw or heard the explosion. And as a result, conspiracy theories abound. Some have pointed out that the amount of rubble at the site is significantly less than…

[As the television drones, Ba'al watches the report, lounging in a chair wearing a polo shirt and khaki pants. Nearby, another Ba'al, wearing a short sleeve, button-down grey shirt and slacks sits in a chair, using chopsticks to eat Chinese food out of a takeout container. Another Ba'al in a tank top stands behind a bar, pouring drinks. Seated at a bar stool is Mayfield. Eventually Polo Shirt Ba'al clicks the remote and turns off the television while Donovan is still speaking.]

POLO SHIRT BA'AL
(shakes his head, irritated)
Over six hundred channels and nothing to watch. Think I'll turn in. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow.
