Even if Lily is as nice in person as she seems to be on TV, I'm beginning to think I shouldn't pursue it. I've been feeling confident this thing could actually be real, but that is actually a real problem. So many people are watching what I do in private so they can try to mimic my success. If I talk to a pretty woman on TV while sitting in my living room and then end up spending the foreseeable future finding ways to make her smile in a real relationship, then there are going to be other people out there trying the same thing. And after that Tacoma Mall terrorist, I just think this is all a bad idea. As some jerk standing next to me the other day pointed out conspicuously secretive: It sucks to be me. And then there are all these people with the "priceless," "volume down," etc. bullshit.....when does it end? How are they finding out this stuff?

But then I was traveling backwards, down the hill I think. I put on the brakes but I still keep traveling down the hill and away from the person I wanted to talk to. Then I put the transmission in Drive and pressed the accelerator, but all the wheels did was spin and I kept moving fast backwards, I felt frustrated. I eventually stopped and the person I wanted to talk to caught up with me but I don't remember anything after that. There was some other stuff going on, possibly it was dream manipulation to respond to my metaphor about being in an H-bomb experiment. But the recurring theme has something to do with traveling backwards and not being able to stop where I want to. It actually reminds me of controlling a ship, in that it takes time and space to stop one.

Two of the last three scenes from a dream just before I awoke just now from a nap are too vague to describe in a lot of detail. In that first scene of the last three I was in a small room that I keep wanting to say was a bus terminal but it must have been a room with seats for, I don't know, about ten people and was a small room but I was vaguely aware of the tile floor and the walls and vaguely some chairs. I was also aware of something about having to be in that room for a long time and I seemed to be weighing the pros and cons of my existence in that room. I was also vaguely aware of the sense that I might have been hoarding food as I was in there. I am also vaguely aware that President Clinton might have also been in there. The second scene of the last three has mostly vanished from my mind by now as I was writing about that first scene. The last scene has me, vaguely, getting out of a car and waking towards a US military building that is the entrance to some kind of US installation and I can visualize the details fairly well and I am walking through the surrounding structures and I am going there to pass through a security checkpoint as though I am entering a US installation. I am vaguely aware of some familiar dialog but that is too vague to describe. I am holding up my identification for the people inside the building and although I cannot see anybody inside, as is probably the design of the building, I get the sense no one is really looking at my identification. I hold it up the entire time I walk around the outside of the building and I even walk to the entrance of that rectangular building and I see that the door is slightly ajar and I hold up my I.D. to that open door and I have the briefest moment where I look through the slightly open door and the inside is dark and I cannot see anything but I have the sense of a presence of a US military person inside at his post in that building. I decide they must have seen my I.D. and I continue walking. As I think about that scene I think to myself that I actually make a circle around that building and I am walking back to the car I came there in. As I walk back I have an image in my mind where I am looking at the text on the back of my I.D. card and the only details I remember is that there is a sections that is labeled "Votes" and the value associated with that caption is in the range of 11 million, 2 hundred thousand but I cannot remember the precise number or what it even means. When I get back to the car though, the people inside are different but I cannot now recall who was in there before and I am left with the vague sense that the difference is simply because the watch has changed, as though they are a different shift and are a different group there at work at their assignment, whatever that is. In the car this are Patrick Stewart at the wheel of what I guess is a black Camaro and next to him is William Shatner. I get into the front seat and I wonder if one of us should get in the back seat because William Shatner is all compressed in the middle and I see his feet as he stuggles to, I don't know. He seems real uncomfortable because of the seating. I notice Patrick Stewart is eating a sandwich. He mentions that he "started a strike" today although that is not his exact dialog but I know what he means because I think that was relevant to the second scene which I do not now recall. I think the dream might have lasted a few more seconds after that dialog but I am not certain. I had the sense that Patrick Stewart was trying to visually identify me as I walked to the car because I was wearing sunglasses. I think I took off the sunglasses as I got into the car. The dialog about the strike has something to do with a labor strike, and I thought that would jog my memory as I write this about that earlier scene but it seems to be completely gone from my memory now. I remember something about how a different term was being used for that strike but I do not now recall what was being used. Since that dialog I have also been wondering if it was actually a reference to that dialog in the 1991 film "Flight of the Intruder" and about how "Grafton" only needed a strike of the match.
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: 03/13/10 2:27 PM
That last scene in the car also reminds me of that dialog from "Mission To Mars" about the unlikely success of three captains in one ship.

INT—ANTARCTIC OUTPOST, CHAIR ROOM AREA
[Sheppard wanders near the chair room, where he hears Beckett bragging to a few scientists who are entranced by his tale.]
BECKETT
(chuckling)
The second I shut my eyes, I could see. I just felt this power that I've never had before. I had it dancing all across the sky. It was magical, it really was. I mean, well, they are lucky. I don't know where it came from. I just tried to concentrate, and the drone shut itself down.
[Sheppard sees Beckett speaking to two others next to the chair.]
SHEPPARD
So you were the one.
BECKETT
Me?
SHEPPARD
(angrily)
You're the one who fired that thing at me.
BECKETT
(placating)
Look, we're doing research, working with technology that's light-years beyond us, and we make mistakes. I'm incredibly, incredibly sorry.
SHEPPARD
(mollified)
Well, next time, just be a little more careful, okay?
BECKETT
That's what I said.
SHEPPARD
What the hell was that thing anyway?
BECKETT
You mean the drone?
[Sheppard nods.]
BECKETT
The weapon the Ancients built to defend this outpost.
SHEPPARD
The who?
BECKETT
(worried)
You do have security clearance to be here?
SHEPPARD
Yeah, yeah, General O'Neill just gave it to me.
BECKETT
(gulping in surprise)
Then you don't even know about the Stargate.

Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda (German: Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda or Propagandaministerium) was Nazi Germany's ministry that enforced Nazi Party ideology in Germany and regulated its culture and society. Founded on March 13, 1933, by Adolf Hitler's new National Socialist government, the Ministry was headed by Dr. Joseph Goebbels and was responsible for controlling the press and culture of Nazi Germany.
The Ministry was based in the Ordenspalais in Berlin-Mitte on the Wilhelmplatz across from the Reich Chancellery.
Role in the Nazi state
When the Nazis took power the Propaganda Ministry was established almost immediately. It was charged with enforcing Nazi doctrine on the people and controlling public opinion. However, the Ministry became even more important after the outbreak of war.
World War II was conducted with a much greater level of propaganda than World War I, especially in the new media of film and radio. Because of practical experience and scientific occupation with propaganda in Europe and USA, propaganda was organised in a planned fashion. A new psychological warfare was born.
Organization
The Ministry grew steadily. It began in 1933 with five departments and 350 employees. By 1939, there were 2000 employees in 17 departments. Between 1933 and 1941, the Ministry's budget grew from 14 million to 187 million Reichsmarks. Three state secretaries were subordinate to Joseph Goebbels
Propaganda
Main article: Nazi propaganda
The Propaganda Ministry used many media to further the National Socialist message and maintain control over the people. Posters, newspapers, publishing, and the arts were all used and explicitly controlled by the Ministry.
Speeches were also used to great effect by the German Government. Goebbels commented on Hitler's first speech as Chancellor: "It will have great propaganda value...be used and viewed in cinemas for years to come...what an achievement."
Just before Hitler delivered this speech Goebbels introduced him and used the opportunity to highlight the importance of propaganda. "It seems you cannot have a good government without good propaganda, but then, you can't have good propaganda without a good government. However, you cannot lie! We must never lie!

Can I have everyone's attention, please? All right, here we go. We're about to try to make a connection. We have been unable to predict exactly how much power this is going to take, and we may only get the one chance at this. So if we're able to achieve a stable wormhole, we're not going to risk shutting the 'gate down. We'll send in the MALP robot probe, check for viability, and go. Everything in one shot. Now, every one of you volunteered for this mission, and you represent over a dozen countries. You are the world's best and brightest. And in light of the adventure we are about to embark on, you're also the bravest. I hope we all return one day having discovered a whole new realm for humanity to explore. But as all of you know, we may never be able to return home. I'd like to offer you all one last chance to withdraw your participation.

Night Gallery Season 2 Episode 59
The Sins of the Fathers
QUOTES
Host: Good evening. I'm your tour guide through this unusual salon of unusual statuary and paintings. These are the sort of things that may not please you but very likely may chill you. Because this is the Night Gallery. Now, this one here, unabashed and unashamed, I submit to you, was a dandy. It delves into an ancient funeral rite having to do with a personage called a sin-eater. One who attends a wake and partakes of the funeral food. And in the process, digests all the transgressions of the deceased, so that he departs the earth a much cleaner and sweeter little item. Proving that we've become a bit more sophisticated in our tribal rites, but we are much the poorer for our 20th Century chromium intellect. You might agree with me after you've seen Sins of the Fathers.

(Back at the Wraith guard, Sheppard and the others fire their tasers at it. Four electric cables snake out and impact the Wraith. As the team hold their triggers down, the Wraith convulses as electricity surges through it.)
(A little distance away, Teyla walks towards the male Wraith, firing her pistol into it as she goes. It jerks under the impacts but keeps walking towards her. She gets off six shots before the Wraith gets close enough to shove her violently backwards onto the ground. She tries to scramble away as it approaches her.)
(The Wraith guard finally collapses on its face.)
(As Teyla rolls away from the Wraith, she sees some slim branches on the ground. She scrambles to her feet, grabbing one as she goes. She twirls it around herself dramatically, then turns to face the Wraith.)
(McKay takes Sheppard's taser and holds one in each hand, aiming them at the guard as Sheppard squats down to it. He rolls it over. Instantly the guard slaps one hand to a round device on the armour on its chest. It lights up and starts to beep.)
SHEPPARD: It's a self destruct! Take cover!
(Picking up the guard's stunner, he and McKay run in one direction and Ford and his colleague run in another. The device explodes.)
(Teyla fights the male Wraith, swinging her stick at it again and again. It fends off all her blows with its hands.)
(At the ruins, Ford stares out from behind the wall as the smoke from the explosion dissipates.)
FORD: Major! Doctor McKay!
(Behind another wall, Sheppard and McKay are flat on their faces as debris and bits of Wraith body rain down on them. Sheppard looks round at McKay as he groans and shakes his head.)
SHEPPARD: You OK?
McKAY: I'm fine. This is, this is fun for me.
(A little way away, Teyla has broken her stick into two pieces and is still fighting with the Wraith. She matches it for a while but it manages to grab one of the sticks and uses it to throw her to the ground. She tries to rise but it kneels down to her and slams her back to the ground with its hand at her throat. It raises its other hand ready to slam it down onto her chest when it jolts from the blast from a Wraith stunner in its back. It convulses and collapses to the ground. Sheppard is on one knee behind it, aiming the stunner at it. He stands and walks towards it. The Wraith reaches for a small round device on its left wrist, obviously its own self-destruct mechanism. Sheppard reverses the weapon and uses the forked end to pin the Wraith's right hand to the ground.)
SHEPPARD: Easy. Don't go blowing yourself up.

WRAITH: Again? Your kind is persistent. I would have thought you'd given up by now.
SHEPPARD: Aw, hell, I've got all the time in the world. (The Wraith walks closer.) Now you, on the other hand ... (The Wraith rapidly makes a grab for him but a force shield running around the cage stop its hand from going through the bars. Nevertheless, Sheppard can't help but flinch back slightly.) The Ancients were pretty good at shields and stuff like that, weren't they? (The Wraith snorts. Sheppard starts to stroll around the cage again. This time the Wraith turns as he goes.)
