This Is What I Think.

Spartanburg
Okay, this is the one I was thinking of. I definitely recall this was a First Federal of South Carolina branch back in the early 1990s.
The structure itself is similar to what I recall of the Spartanburg area and that was different from the Greenville area. I think now I saw similar structures down-state in Columbia and Greenville when sometimes I covered for the offices there.
This location was the farthest branch we covered from the Greenville office but that wasn't the Spartanburg office I went to on the Christmas Eve occasion I wrote of.
This Hillcrest branch had a stand-alone ATM that was in a building on the left of this screen image and that doesn't seem to be there now, seemingly replaced by a stand-alone device in the drive-through lane.
The shopping mall I wrote of last is labeled on Google Streetview as Hillcrest and that was instantly familiar to me on the BB&T website as I believe that is how we referred to that First Federal branch.
Still, Westgate sounds familiar. I do not at this time remember if First Federal had a branch over in that area back in the 1990s.
Also, some of the First Federal branches were simply closed after the acquisition. The only ones I could find now are ones I explicitly remember the physical location of and the ones that are actively listed on the BB&T website.
