Hicks Road
The first time I watched an episode of "Heroes" when "Angela" is shown with a pair of black socks in that episode "Shades of Gray." That was one of the first episodes I had ever actually watched when the series was first-run on television. I wasn't really sure what that was about when I saw it. And when I write "what that was about" I am declaring that production is an active criminal enterprise and that detail actively supports their active criminal enterprise.
So a few days ago I watched for the first time the premiere episode of that television series and as I best recall without going back to review it again that is how the mother of the "Petrelli" brothers is introduced in the series. She has been arrested for shoplifting a pair of black socks.
I don't recall seeing another reference by her about the black socks until that "Shades of Gray" episode in early March 2009, just after I started watching it. I had started watching that television series in my bugged apartment the previous month so the thieves stealing my private property and that have invaded my home know that I was watching it at that point.
At some point that detail started making me think of the Ashdown High School prom in my senior year in 1984.
I published that detail in my public blog first on 09 May 2007 and then repeated it on 15 May 2007 and August 16 2007. Those were the only times I publicly wrote about that detail.
That happened my senior year. My junior year is when Lesa Jewell and I went together to the prom. I took someone else my senior year. The woman portraying "Kate" in the May 1983 film "Blue Thunder" always me think of her. They even drove the same kind of car.

This one other memory came up with a time when Denzil told me I had made my point. I think he wanted me to come back home because my mother missed me. She and I had an argument over something I can't remember. I decided to move out, going out on my own. I moved into a motel in town. It was close to the end of my senior year. I remember people telling me their opinions and I didn't really want to hear it. One guy was telling me how great home cooked meals are, Micheal telling me I was crazy. My physics teacher said something about to me in class one day but I can't remember what he said. Micheal drove up to where I worked after school and took Denzil's dog box that I had in my truck. They were large wooden boxes that filled the bed of the pickup and that we put the hunting dogs into for transport. There was one point there after that where my mother was extremely angry at me. I had snuck into the house one day to get my clothes and they were taking a nap and I didn't want them to know I was there. Something was wrong with my Chevrolet and my girlfriends father let me borrow his El Camino. I enjoyed driving his car, because it had a lot of power, but I didn't care much for the quasi-pickup chassis, it just didn't look right. She showed up at the place I was staying not much longer, slamming her door, yelling at me. Eventually, I saw Denzil some time later, I was still staying at the motel. I was paying my rent one day and the owner said he had wanted to meet me. Anyway, Denzil told me I had made my point and that I should come back home because mom missed me. I saw her sometime after that in Wal Mart. She said she was buying some black socks for me, that I would need for the Senior prom that was a few days away. I moved back in with them until I graduated, and acccording to my memory, left for boot camp in Orlando.

It seems odd now, with all things considered, when a girl I went to high school with was emailing me a while back. I remember she sent me pictures of her kids. I was glad to keep in touch with her and I was hoping to see her next time I traveled back there. She and I went to the prom together when we were in the 11th grade. She's not the same person as the Tamara person I mentioned earlier. One time, sometime in the '90s, my grandmother told me I should marry this woman I took to the prom. I reminded grandma that she was already married and had three kids. I think this memory has some importance, other than the obvious. Could she instead be the Helen Hunt character of my Cast Away life? One possibility is that she was communicating with me to test whether I still had an emotional attachment to her, where pictures of her kids would exacerbate those feelings by reminding me that those could have been my kids. Or maybe she doesn't actually exist.

She made herself wait, controlling the twitch in her hands, for the second buzz Then she went slowly, with silken swish.
She opened the door and he was there, nearly blinding in white dinner jacket and dark dress pants.
They looked at each other, and neither said a word.
She felt that her heart would break if he uttered so much as the wrong sound, and if he laughed she would die. She felt – actually, physically – her whole miserable life narrow to a point that might be an end or the beginning of a widening beam.
Finally, helpless, she said: 'Do you like me?'
He said: 'You're beautiful.'
She was.

With the show's cancellation three months later, "Brave New World" serves as the de facto series finale. The episode aired on February 8, 2010. It marked the end of the Redemption volume, as well as the series as the show was cancelled on May 14, 2010 by NBC.

Angela watches them fly off and then flashes back to her youth, rendered in resplendent black and white. A young Angela awakens from a nightmare. It's March 1961. She walks outside her dorm to be confronted by the trio from the last flashback who know her nightmares come true. Deveaux says she's not the only one that knows something strange is going on. Linderman asks about a scar on her leg. She says she got it in a bicycle accident. He heals her. Deveaux says it's one big science experiment and that they're the rats. Angela says they'll be cured. Deveaux is unconvinced and likens the camp to Nazi Germany and "America did it too, with the Japs.". Angela says this is different. He asks about her nightmare. She says her dreams are confusing. Deveaux says she has to stop being afraid and start believing in her dreams. She tells them not to trust Suresh. Alice comes out, Angela shoos her back in. They go back to bed. "Say goodnight, Alice." Alice replies, "goodnight, Alice," then complains her feet are cold, so Angela promises to get her some socks.

"Cold Snap" is the twentieth episode of the third season of the NBC science fiction drama series Heroes and fifty-fourth episode overall. The episode aired on March 23, 2009
Danko's men do come for Angela, though she is able to evade them having foreseen the event via her precognitive dreams. She then visits a friend of hers for cash to disappear. Finally, Danko's men seem to corner her in an elevator, as she had been trying to travel up the building, though the agents had changed the wiring to call the elevator down. However, Peter Petrelli arrives through the elevator shaft, and flies her to safety. The episode closes on a shot of Peter and Angela regrouping within the fitting irony of the Statue of Liberty, contemplating what to do next.

Peter is looking around at the dilapidated ghost facility of Coyote Sands, asking his mother why they're out there. "This is where our story really begins," she explains as Nathan & Claire zoom in and land behind a building. Peter is mad when he sees Nathan. Claire goes to him. Nathan says to let Peter vent. Angela says enough already, she says there's been too much misery in this place already and that even though she never wanted them to see this, that was a mistake because to prepare for the future you have to know the past. She pulls out shovels from the SUV she and Peter arrived in. She says to discover the truth, they have to dig.
We watch them dig late into the night as Mohinder blathers on in voice over. "It is our nature to protect our children. For each generation to pass on their cautionary tales to the next. So it is with the myth of Icarus, the legend of a boy who fashioned wings from feathers and wax, daring to fly into the heavens. His father was fearful and warned Icarus to be careful. Begging him not to tempt fate by flying too close to the sun. But in the end, the boy couldn't resist. His waxen wings melted from the sun's rays."
Nathan has found something. He uncovers a skull with a bullet hole. Angela becomes weak in the knees and Peter catches her. He asks if she knows who that was. She says, "I knew...all of them." "All of them?" Nathan asks. He wonders, "exactly how many are here, Ma?" She tells them, "keep digging."

Witnesses say the gunman enters a village of tents, the residential heart of the weeklong retreat, and spots desperate individuals hoping he'll spare them if they run back inside their homes. But the killer is seen working his way tent by tent, shooting many point-blank, one by one.
5:20 p.m.:
Kaur joins a group of panicked, confused campers. They are running from the approaching gunman, his "POLICE" moniker crystal-clear to see from even middle distance.
"My first thought was: Why are the police shooting at us? What the hell?" she writes.
More than a dozen crowd into a dark corner of a camp building, and all lie down on the floor. She cries quietly — then sees her best friend from camp, a boy, through a window.
"I wondered if I should go out and bring him to me. I did not. I saw fear in his eyes," she writes.
5:25 p.m.:
Kaur says a burst of gunfire extremely close to the building triggers panic and the entire group leaps out of a far window. Several suffer injuries, including a girl with a broken ankle, but the shooter doesn't immediately pursue them. She takes new cover behind a low brick wall, telephones her mother on her cell phone, and sends a text to her father.
"Many were there," she writes. "I prayed, prayed, prayed. I hope that God saw me."
5:30 p.m.:
As the gunman picks off lone campers who run from their hiding spots as he draws near, many find themselves at the shoreline with only one apparent escape route — the water.
Kaur says the gunman tries to draw out the hiders near the brick wall, shouting, "I'm from the police!" Campers shout back, "Prove it!" He shoots at those who move. She lies still, on top of the legs of a teenage girl covered in blood.

On the theme of something I wrote earlier today, I have been thinking for several days, maybe weeks or longer, about something I said to Lynn after I came back from Utah in 2002. I was joking about the lousy lake we had to swim in. I joked that I went down to the water and then asked myself: "who organized this race, Osama bin Laden?" I went on to describe to her some thoughts that I don't know why I was having about how terrorists would go after the most physically fit people in preparation for an invasion. Now that I think about, I now remember something I read about the Soviets planning something like that with pilots in a country, Norway I think, in preparation for a Warsaw Pact invasion of NATO. They kept track of all the pilots in their homes and then planned to murder them just before the invasion took place so they wouldn't be in the air to fight back.
Watching the news today, I'm thinking Reichert is hiding something.

Toland had been a busy fellow for the past twelve hours. The data on Iceland came in slowly, one confusing piece at a time, and even now he didn't have enough to call a clear picture. The group's orders had been changed, though only after too many hours of indecision. The mission to reinforce Iceland was a washout. For the past ten hours the battle group had been heading due east toward friendly air cover from England and France. Someone had decided that if the Marines could not go to Iceland, then they might find useful employment in Germany. Bob had expected them to be diverted to Norway, where a Marine Amphibious Brigade was already in place, but getting them there could prove difficult. A furious air battle had been raging over northern Norway for almost twenty hours, with losses heavy on both sides. The Norwegians had started the war with scarcely a hundred modern fighters. They were screaming for help, but there was no help for anyone as yet.
"They're not just chewing the Norwegians up," Toland observed. "They're driving them south. Most of the attacks are on the northern bases, and they're not giving them any breather at all."

Harry and Helen arrive at Aziz's terrorist camp in a helicopter. In a warehouse, Juno shows Harry and Helen four giant statues from ancient Persia. She calls the statues "the four horsemen", and says that they are priceless. The terrorists rip open one of the statues and remove a large case containing a Soviet nuclear weapon. A man is filming the event. Aziz asks Harry if he knows what the weapon is, and Harry jokes about it. Aziz holds a knife to Helen's neck, telling her that they brought Harry and Helen there so Harry can tell the world about the weapon, and that the world will know that the Crimson Jihad is a nuclear power. Helen wonders how Harry can do that -- he's only a salesman. Harry reluctantly describes the weapon, a Soviet MIRV-6, and then tells Aziz in Arabic to release Helen and he will cooperate. Aziz orders his men to remove the warheads from the other statues. Harry admits to Helen that he's a spy, so she punches him and calls him a bastard, a lying son of a bitch
