SAMUELS
I hate to throw a damper on your enthusiasm, but I still say the safest, most logical way to deal with this is to bury the Stargate, just like the ancient Egyptians did, and make it impossible for the aliens to return. It's the only way to eliminate the threat.
O'NEILL
Except it won't work.
HAMMOND
It worked before.
O'NEILL
They know what we are now. They know how far we've come. We're a threat to them. They've got ships, General. Ra had one as big as the great pyramids. They don't need the Stargate to get here. They can do it the old fashioned way. Now with all due respect to Mister Glass-is-half-empty over here, don't you think maybe we should use the Stargate to do a little reconnaissance before they decide to come back…again?

INT—SGC BRIEFING ROOM
[Hammond, O'Neill, Kawalsky, Daniel and Carter are standing in front of a map of planets.]
HAMMOND
Gentlemen, these planets designated P3-575 and P3A-577 have been submitted by Captain Carter's team as possible destinations for your next mission. SG units one and two will operate concurrently.
[O'Neill turns to Kawalsky.]
O'NEILL
You know, I'm kind of partial to P3-575 if you don't mind taking P3A-577.
KAWALSKY
No I'll take 577.
O'NEILL
I'm not married to it.

The Enemy Within (1 Aug. 1997)
Richard Dean Anderson ... Colonel Jack O'Neill
The team, now designated SG-1 (there will be nine exploration teams in all) are planning their next foray through the gate as they try map out the variety of sites available to them and locate their missing friends. O'Neill asks that Teal'c be allowed to join his team but Gen. Hammond thinks that will be unlikely given that he is the host for a Goa'uld. Unbeknown to anyone however is that O'Neill's close friend, Maj. Charles Kawalsky, leader of SG-2, has been infected by a Goa'uld, an immature version that has not yet taken complete control of the host. Kawalsky is having regular blackouts during which the Goa'uld is trying to return to the gate. An MRI reveals what is wrong but it's unlikely the creature that has fused itself to Kawalsky's spine can be surgically removed. Meanwhile, Col. Kennedy arrives to question Teal'c who has pledged his loyalty to his new world.

INT—SGC INFIRMARY
[Doctor Nimzicki is shining a light into Kawalsky's eye.]
NIMZICKI
And these headaches, Major…they started when you came back from your last mission?
KAWALSKY
Yeah. And they've been getting worse.
NIMZICKI
Anybody else on the team experience these symptoms?
KAWALSKY
No. Why?
NIMZICKI
It could be a reaction to Gate travel.
KAWALSKY
Look, Doc, just give me a horse pill for the pain, or something. It's a damn headache.
[Doctor Nimzicki touches a lump at the back of Kawalsky's neck. He looks worried as he examines it.]
NIMZICKI
What's this? You didn't notice this?
KAWALSKY
What? Notice what?
[The lump suddenly moves and moves up Kawalsky's spine and into his brain. It's a goa'uld.]
KAWALSKY
Ahh…ahh…arrghhhh!
[Kawalsky's eyes glow and he grabs Doctor Nimzicki by the throat.]
NIMZICKI
Major!
[Kawalsky twists his wrist and snaps the doctor's neck.]

[Alarms go off as the Stargate starts to activate.]
DAVIS
Alert! Inbound traveler! Repeat. Inbound traveler!
KAWALSKY
Damn, those Goa'ulds are persistent.
O'NEILL
I think we pissed them off.
DAVIS
Closing the iris.
[Soldiers run to stand before the Stargate, weapons ready. The computer screen flashes "Warning. Unrecognized traveler."]
HAMMOND
Alert! All defense teams stand by.
(turns to Davis)
Set the base auto destruct countdown at three minutes.
[Davis does so. The seventh chevron locks. There is the sound of a wormhole engaging, but the iris remains in place. There are several thuds. Carter flinches.]
KAWALSKY
We're not going anywhere as long as the Goa'ulds keep up these attacks.
DANIEL
They can't keep them up forever…Can they?
[More thuds are heard, impacting against the iris.]
O'NEILL
Whoa.
CARTER
Well, once they realize our Gate's impenetrable they should just give up.
KAWALSKY
Part of me just wants to let 'em through. Give 'em the fight they're looking for.
[There's one last thud, and the Stargate shuts down.]
DAVIS
Radiation team, move in.
[Two technicians scan the iris with radiation-detecting equipment.]
O'NEILL
Well, there've got to be worse ways to go, I suppose.
DANIEL
You don't think the Goa'ulds are sending people through, do you?

HAMMOND
All right, stand down from alert and abort the countdown.
[The soldiers relax. Kawalsky rubs the back of his neck and groans. O'Neill notices.]
O'NEILL
Kawalsky. What's the matter?
KAWALSKY
Headache. Took a fistful of aspirin but nothing helps.
O'NEILL
Get down to the infirmary. Get it checked out. Go on.
KAWALSKY
Yes, sir, I think I'll do that.
(Turns to Hammond)
Sir, with your permission?
[Kawalsky salutes Hammond, Hammond salutes back.]
HAMMOND
By all means, Major. I need you to lead your team to P3-575.
[Kawalsky leaves, deliberately brushing against O'Neill as he passes. O'Neill smirks. The Stargate starts to turn again.]
DAVIS
Inbound traveler! Inbound traveler!
HAMMOND
Reset the countdown. Here we go again. All defense teams remain in position.
[Once again, the soldiers get ready as the Stargate activates.]
DANIEL
(to Carter)
So this iris is going to hold right?
CARTER
Pure titanium. Less than three micrometers from the event horizon. It won't even allow matter to fully reintegrate.
O'NEILL
(to Carter)
So this iris is going to hold, right?
CARTER
If it doesn't, the failsafe device will detonate, this whole mountain will vaporize, and there'll be nothing to worry about.

TEAL'C
Am I a prisoner?
O'NEILL
Ahh, yeah.
TEAL'C
I understand.
O'NEILL
We're not exactly living up to your expectations of us, are we?
[O'Neill pulls out a chair and sits as he's talking.]
O'NEILL
You see, Teal'c, we've been living alone in our little corner of the galaxy for quite a while and I think…the people I work for just need to get to know you a little better. I mean, your knowledge of the Goa'ulds alone makes them a little curious.
TEAL'C
I will give that knowledge freely.
O'NEILL
Yeah, I know you will, and we'll put it to good use.
TEAL'C
I will pledge my allegiance to this world.
O'NEILL
I'm just not sure that's ever going to be enough for them to trust you. To be honest with you, I think they're scared of you.
TEAL'C
(looks away)
I understand.
O'NEILL
(studying Teal'c)
You must be used to that by now, huh?
TEAL'C
I am a Jaffa. I have served as a warrior for your enemy. I have carried your enemy within me.
O'NEILL
Yeah. Well, it's kind of a human thing. We tend to be afraid of things we don't know.
TEAL'C
Why is O'Neill not afraid?
O'NEILL
Teal'c, I saw you stand up to a god. You refused to kill. I saw you make that decision.
TEAL'C
Yes.
O'NEILL
In that moment, I learned everything I needed to know to trust you.
TEAL'C
If I had killed you then, I would not be here now.
O'NEILL
(stands)
Neither would I.
TEAL'C
I will prove my allegiance, O'Neill.
O'NEILL
Teal'c, I sure wish you didn't have to.
TEAL'C
When I do…you will show me this world?
O'NEILL
Oh, you bet.
(claps Teal'c on the shoulder)
Just not all at once, though.
(knocks on door.)
It's big.
I can still visualize sitting there in that restraunt and Thedia (my surrogate mother) was sitting there with her elbow on the table as she held up a hundred dollar bill as she called over the waitress to get the bill for the meal. A few minutes later was when, as we all got in my black 2002 Jeep Wrangler, she asked me to go back inside to get her eyeglasses off the table, and I quickly went back inside the restraunt.

I wouldn't have even been riding along that stupid little bridge except that we had moved to a new office complex in nearby Issaquah and I still had a lease on my apartment in downtown Bellevue.
Our office had been in a downtown mid-rise office tower next to the Bellevue mall and I lived in a really nice apartment about two blocks north. That apartment was quite possibly the nicest place I had ever lived before then. It was appointed better than the house I used to own in Greer South Carolina but that house was much larger and it was still very nice for a hundred thousand dollars. That won't buy you anything out here that I know of. Maybe that park bench I was sleeping on for a while back in the summer of 2005.
The apartment in Bellevue was really more than I could afford and almost most of my salary went towards the rent. The apartment was really cool and brand new and about as close to luxury as I knew. The top floor unit was on the south-west corner and I had a beautiful view of downtown Bellevue. I told a coworker once I could see the colors on his computer monitor on his desk with binoculars from my apartment. My desk was on the opposite side of the tower but my group occupied the entire floor of that building which I think was the Bank of America tower. With a small telescope I could have easily read whatever was displayed on his computer monitor if I had wanted to.
That Limestone building was the apartment I lived at in the summer of 2001. I called the Bellevue police 9-1-1 many times during that summer to complain about the noise a small business across the street was making at night.
I can recall trading emails with Lesa Jewell Withem after the 9-11 attacks when I still lived there. I think I contacted her first. I always remember, for some reason, what she told me about Felicia Simpson. Lesa told me that Felicia had remarried because her first husband was a "dud."
I think that was right after 9-11-2001. I don't recall for certain. Hell, that could have been a few months later. The way I remember it I was still living in that Limestone apartment building in Bellevue when I communicated with her and I specifically remember discussing the 9-11-2001 attacks. I moved out of that Bellevue apartment and moved to an Issaquah apartment and I think that was around March or April 2002 when I moved out to Issaquah. I remember that my rent payments were going to be drastically lower in Issaquah and I could then afford a car and that is when I got a loan for a brand-new 2002 Jeep Wrangler. Some time later is when I think Thedia was trying to get me to brag about being gunshot in 1993 and when I guessed she had tricked me so could rifle through my glovebox to see the name on the vehicle registration. She brought a cute girl with her that time and that I had never met before and that "fine bitch" insisted on giving me a hug and she said something odd just before that. I was so depressed later that day I couldn't even drag myself out of my apartment to go meet them for dinner.

My friend the communist
Holds meetings in his RV
I can't afford his gas
So I'm stuck here watching TV
I don't have digital
I don't have diddly squat
It's not having what you want
It's wanting what you've got
[CHORUS:]
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Gonna tell everyone
To lighten up (I'm gonna tell 'em that)
I've got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame
I'm looking up o I'm gonna soak up the sun
I'm gonna soak up the sun
I've got a crummy job
It don't pay near enough
To buy the things it takes
To win me some of your love
Every time I turn around
I'm looking up, you're looking down
Maybe something's wrong with you
That makes you act the way you do
Maybe i am crazy too
[CHORUS]
I'm gonna soak up the sun
While it's still free
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Before it goes out on me
Don't have no master suite
I'm still the king of me
You have a fancy ride, but baby
I'm the one who has the key
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: Re: Journal June 8, 2006, Supplemental
In the movie An Officer And A Gentleman, the young Mayo goes to live with his father in the Philipines. I don't think it is a coincidence that Maureen's first husband was named John Filippone.
I've been thinking about something the person I remember as my mother said to me a long time ago. She came to visit me in Bellevue one time, I think it was 2001, I'm pretty sure it was right after that earthquake. She told me her boss was letting her take a business trip out to Bellevue because she hadn't seen me in a while and was worried about me. I remember commenting to her about how this was the first time she had actually been to my home. She had never before visited any place I had lived. I remember when I first saw her at the airport, she drew attention to her new hairstyle, which was a lot shorter than she had always worn it. I took off my cap and showed her that mine was shorter too, as I had earlier started shaving it all off. Funny story, I got the idea watching a tv movie about Genghis Khan and his sidekick had a shaved head and I thought that was probably how I would look. I remember noting that "Mom" didn't seem surprised I had shaved my head, as though she knew about it already. So anyway, as I looked at this picture several times over the past few weeks, I find myself thinking about the resemblance to Theda. When was it I had that physical with the doctor in Bellevue and he commented that the objects on my back, which turned out to be some kind of fibrous objects, were suspicious?
[JOURNAL ARCHIVE 08 June 2006 excerpt ends]
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: dated 2006
Damn, now some of the quips I've made over the past few years make sense. I was in the bathroom one day at work and a guy I went out drinking with sometimes walked in. For some reason, I made some kind of comment about not being able to get the blood off my hands. I didn't think much about it at the time, but it stuck in my mind. It takes on a whole new meaning now. I said something to that same guy one time, he had once been in some military academy before dropping out, about how I had taken some 50-caliber rounds in the back. I have no idea where that comment came from. It must have something to do with taking rounds in my aircraft because those objects on my back aren't big enough to be scars from 50-caliber bullets.
[JOURNAL ARCHIVE 2006 excerpt ends]
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: Posted by H.V.O.M at 2:33 PM Monday, March 26, 2012
I remember one time when I was watching the CBS television channel a promotional segment was running for that television series "The Mentalist" and I had that strongest sense in my mind as though someone communicated to my mind "That is you" meaning that I am a "mentalist." That really makes no sense to me because I have never really cared about psych. technology concepts. I still really don't care about it that much. I don't identify with those kinds of characters or concepts.
I used the health insurance provided by Microsoft to obtain a prescription of sleeping pills from a doctor in Bellevue Washington because I was having a really hard time sleeping at night. Many nights I could not sleep at all and I would stay awake all night. That was well after I had started going to his office. I first went there to his office, after finding a medical doctor close to where I lived, for routine physical and I used the health insurance Microsoft provided to me to pay for the doctor's visit. That was the time the medical doctor told me I should have something checked on my back, which was actually on my shoulder and on the skin over the shoulderblade. I went back later and he had a biopsy done on it, all paid for by Microsoft health insurance. Part of that was from a penetrating gunfire wound that hit me in the front first and then exited from my back. Other parts are from a explosion that hit behind me and that drove shrapnel under my skin.
[JOURNAL ARCHIVE 26 March 2012 excerpt ends]
JOURNAL ARCHIVE: Posted by H.V.O.M at 2:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2011
That would explain the pain in my shoulder.
I think I found the bullet exit wound on my shoulder. I can see what appears to be an exit scar from a bullet wound on my back and around where the shoulder blade is located. That makes sense that it was not removed through the laser surgical procedure to hide the entry wound on the front of my chest. The exit scar of the gunfire injury I sustained in 1993 is something I had never even noticed before until I just now started looking for it but I can now definitely see it there. The doctor I went to in Bellevue in about 2002 or 2003 must have seen it too.
