Even accommodating gentleman Chandler loses it when he finds out Eddie has been sneaking in his bedroom to watch him sleep. When the girls read a pseudo-poetical hardcore feminist bestseller, it quickly stirs trouble between Rachel and Ross and amongst the three girls. Now Joey has lost his job, his two-envelope Visa-bill leaves him no other choice then to audition for a measly part beneath a former soap star's dignity and standing by as unpaid stuff is carried off, except a porcelain dog which Ross ransoms after regretting having told Joey to do anything for material security, as he would. Since Eddie simply forgets his move marching orders, Chandler first spends a night at Monica's but then finds the perfect way to solve both his and Joey's problem.

At her engagement party, Joan Ellis, your typical girl next door, acknowledges that the strange voice that she's heard all her life is coming from within herself. Joan's alter ego, a conniving and murderous woman named Karen, is becoming stronger and stronger and is threatening to take over her life. Joan negotiates with Karen. Cpl. Jim of the R.C.M.P. is taking his daughter Julie to school in Edmonton on the Arctic Queen. Six men hold up the boat when they stop for wood and gun down Jim in front of his daughter. The new inspector sends Alan after them, but has him split his unit. This leaves Alan short and they are ambushed and forced to bring back his wounded comrade. At Fort Endurance, Alan is confined to quarters for not arresting Dave when some of the stolen furs are found in his shed. Elizabeth lies about Dave being part of the gang to have Alan thrown out of the Mounties. When the other Mounties go out on a long chase, the only chance Alan and Bill have in finding the bandits is to take the forestry plane and search the lakes and rivers.

THE FATE OF FRANCIS GARY POWERS
Downed U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers underwent extensive interrogation at the hands of the Soviets. His instructions from the CIA on what to do in event of capture were meager, and he had been told that he might as well tell the Soviets whatever they wanted to know because they could get the information from his aircraft anyway Nevertheless, Powers tried to conceal as much classified information as possible while giving the appearance of cooperating with his captors. To extract the maximum propaganda value from the U-2 Affair, the Soviets prepared an elaborate show trial for Powers, which began on 17 August 1960 Powers continued to conceal as much information as possible, but, on the advice of his Soviet defense counsel, he stated that he was sorry for his actions The Soviet court sentenced him to 10 years' "deprivation of liberty," with the first three to be spent in prison
