Night of the Comet (1984)

As part of their theft of my property, they keep me from my wife and trusted associates. I have absolutely no idea who is doing what around me and I know all these zombies want something from me that I don't want to let them take. There are others I created for my wife I want to tell her about but all this is being stolen from me to this very minute. It is part of their scheme to develop an alibi.

This seems important. People were aggravating the hell out of me a while back by always ending their sentences with "huh." The zombies will probably start doing it again now that I refer back to it. So go ahead - you're only hurting yourself.

Haynes buys a book and passes it across the table for the author to inscribe.

Fletcher signs in loopy letters, then she sits up straight and says, "You thought I'd never get back, huh. I'm back."

I recognize the date 11/2/1975 as when I launched to intercept the comet that was in the outer solar system above the ecliptic. I recognize the date 4/14/1977 as when I returned to Earth from that mission after 529 days in space.

From 3/3/1959 to 8/13/1960 is: 529 days
From 11/2/1975 to 4/14/1977 is: 529 days

Dawnn Lewis (born August 13, 1960 in Brooklyn, New York) is an actress, best known for her roles on sitcoms such as A Different World and in the first season of Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.
In A Different World, Lewis appeared for the first five of the six season run as "Jaleesa Vinson-Taylor" (1987-1992). In Hangin' with Mr. Cooper Lewis appeared in the first of the five seasons as "Robin Dumars" (1992). She didn't appear on the two shows consecutively - she left A Different World to star in Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. Although she was married to one of the main characters on A Different World, she disappeared without explanation.

She had an uncredited role in the movie The Gun in Betty Lou's Handbag. She also cowrote the theme song to A Different World. Since then, she has appeared in numerous TV series (including Futurama as LaBarbara),

LaBarbara Conrad (Voiced by Dawnn Lewis) - Hermes Conrad's wife. She is considerably taller than Hermes and is usually seen wearing revealing clothes. LaBarbara was previously married to Barbados Slim, a tall, muscular athlete (whom she refers to as "that mahogany god") who won the limbo gold medal in the 3004 Olympics. She accompanies her husband on a trip on the Starship Titanic and another to Spa 5, which turns out to be a slave labor camp. She and her husband often refer to each other only as "husband" and "wife" (although cry out "Hermes!" in "A Flight to Remember").

Hermes Conrad is a character in the Futurama animated series. He is voiced by Phil LaMarr.

Hermes' love of limbo

Hermes was once an Olympic limbo athlete. He was competing at the 2980 Olympic Games for the Earth team when a little boy ran onto the field. The boy wanted to be "just like Hermes," but broke his back while attempting to limbo. This event traumatized Hermes and he could not bring himself to limbo again until decades later, when he found it necessary to slide under a nearly-closed airlock door to save the lives of himself and his co-workers. His confidence (though not his physique) restored, Hermes came out of retirement to compete for Jamaica at the 3004 Olympics, after the original team got detained at the airport for "other interests" (again, implied to be marijuana), though he was bested by longtime rival Barbados Slim, to whom Hermes' wife LaBarbara Conrad was once married.

The ultimate penalty

In the episode "How Hermes Requisitioned His Groove Back" he suffered a breakdown, and was sent on paid vacation (considered the "ultimate penalty" in his profession) with LaBarbara. Unfortunately, the spa he chose as a vacation spot was actually a forced labor camp, with the recreational activities including pushing mining carts. Hermes, his bureaucratic bearing restored, reorganized the labor camp for greater efficiency, after which all physical labor was done by a single Australian man.
