That just caught up with me. Along the girl named Phoebe that Kerry Burgess picked out randomly on a dance floor in 1981, he also asked a girl to dance in 1986 one night in Wisconsin and that he knew long enough for me to now remember details about.

In the context of my artificial memory, I was stationed at the United States Navy base in Great Lakes Illinois and as a United States Navy Fire Controlman 3rd Class Petty Officer I was attending the Class A school for the Fire Controlman occupational rating and which teaches the fundamentals of the computer equipment that rating maintains for the weapons systems of United States Navy warships and other ships that have defensive weapons systems.

I do not recall the day I met her. That must have been the summer of 1986 and I think was about four to six weeks after I had arrived in Illinois after I had left an earlier school in Orlando Florida.

I just caught the association. Her birthday was 2 September 1965. I always remember that because it was exactly two months before my birthdate.

I don't recall the name of the bar but I remember it was a popular place and it was a fairly long drive from the US Navy base in North Chicago to that dance club in Wisconsin. There were a lot of women in that bar that night. I walked up and asked her to dance and we dated for a long time after that. I was thinking of a her again recently when I watched the 1986 film "Short Circuit" on television.

She was from Arlington Heights. I stayed there several times in that condo in Arlington Heights.

In the context of my artificial and symbolic memory, I can "remember" Tracie Rhodes wanting me to ask her father, Joseph, for permission to marry her. Tracie's birthday, in the context of my artificial and symbolic memory, was July 16th. We met when she started working at the First Federal bank in Greenville, although she worked at the branches in Clemson, South Carolina, which is home to the Clemson Tigers. I lived nearby in Central, South Carolina, off Issaqueena Trail, before I moved to Country Club Estates in Greer, South Carolina. Her job was to restock the ATM machines with cash while my job was to repair the machines if they broke down. She would call me out if any repairs were needed. Her mother was named Betty, same as my grandmother. Joseph was also the name of my father

And then I started thinking again about 4/11/91. I had that letter from Maria Coleman with that date. It is also the last day of Operation Desert Storm.

For one, 4/11/91 was the date of that letter from Maria Coleman. 4/11/91 is also the date I found that was the end of the First Gulf War.

yeah.....and that letter from Maria Coleman that was dated 4/11/91. I wrote a while back about how that date was when the First Gulf War ended. What does that mean? She "learned so much more than I have ever learned before" or something like that. I remember that part from the letter because of a curious grammar structure in that sentence. She was the assistant to the President of First Federal Savings and Loan.

Greaves, R.B

Take a Letter, Maria

Last night as I got home about a half past ten
There was the woman I thought I knew
In the arms of another man
I kept my cool, I ain't no fool
Let me tell you what happened then
I packed some clothes and I walked out
And I ain't going back again

CHORUS:

So take a letter Maria, address it to my wife
Say I won't be coming home, gonna start a new life
So take a letter Maria, address it to my wife
Send a copy to my lawyer, gotta start a new life

You've been many things but most of all a good secretary to me
And it's times like this I feel you've always been close to me
Was I wrong to work nights to try to build a good life
All work and no play has just cost me a wife

CHORUS

When a man loves a woman it's hard to understand
That she would find more pleasure in the arms of another man
I never really noticed how sweet you are to me
It just so happens I'm free tonight
Would you like to have dinner with me

CHORUS

So take a letter Maria, address it to my wife
Send a copy to my lawyer, gotta start a new life

Tracie and I first went out on a December 7th. I think it was 1991. I think it was a Christmas party at the bank we worked at. Her job was to stock cash in the ATMs for the western part of the region I covered. When there was a problem with the machines, she called me out to make repairs.

I think I wrote once about a scar Tracie Rhodes Crooks had on her stomach. Today the thought crossed my mind about a joke I heard once about a centerfold in nude magazine having a scar on her stomach from the staples in the magazine.

Synopsis for

"Heroes"

Chapter One 'A Clear and Present Danger' (2009)

"Heroes" - "A Clear and Present Danger" - Feb. 2, 2009

A clock radio informs us that it's 7:12 as the phone rings. Tracy, in a black party dress, answers and says hello to the governor with great familiarity. He tells her to turn on the TV. She does and sees Nathan is being interviewed about his rapid rise in the Senate and how, as chairman of the senate committee on Homeland Security, he's become quite close with the president. Tracy tells the governor that Nathan is ancient history and she hasn't spoken to him in two months. She hangs up, drops her dress and notices an open window -- all while Nathan continues to deflect questions about citizen privacy issues on TV and classified matters that pose a threat to the American people -- and goes to lock it.

The interviewer asks why Nathan, "Why now?" Nathan says it's classified. Nathan says he's devoted his life to protecting people. Armed men invade Tracy's home. She tries to freeze one but can't. On the TV the interviewer asks if Nathan's religious conversion still stands. He says yes, now more than ever. Tracy tells the men she refuses to beg for her life. A man she seems to recognize -- even though they're all wearing ski masks -- shoots her with some kind of tranquilizer gun. He pulls off the mask. It's Danko the Hunter (Zeljko Ivanek) and calls someone to say, "Tell Petrelli we got the first one."

NCIS: Los Angeles

Season 2: Episode 5

Little Angels: The daughter of an Navy Commander is kidnapped from her home in the Angeles National Forest and buried alive. This case visibly strikes a cord with Sam. Even though this is now an FBI case, he insists that Hetty allow them to work the case. The team tracks a car seen leaving the forest to the brother of convicted serial killer, Timon Maragos; whose M.O was burying young girls alive. Alex Maragos acts suspicious and during questioning, Sam catches him lying about his whereabouts the night of the kidnapping. Meanwhile, Deeks talks to Timon in prison where tries to implicate his brother in the previous murders and Ashley's kidnapping. The team doesn't know who to believe and with time running out Callen comes up with a plan to set a trap for both brothers and see which one of them takes the bait and leads them to Ashley. The plan works but when Callen and Sam tackle the suspects they discover that it is not Alex or Timon but Alex's teenage sons. Apparently, they admired their uncle and wanted to see if killing someone felt as good as Timon had described to them.

Hetty tells Callen to keep an eye on Sam, who is taking this case to heart. Sam finally opens up to his partner about the Serbian paramilitary locking him and his team member in a steal locker as they were on a mission to capture Serbian war criminals. Sam's team member died before the SEAL team could find and rescue them. He has always felt guilty about surviving and the circumstances of Ashley's kidnapping brought back memories that have always haunted him.

Black Hawk Down

I see not catching Aidid is becoming a routine.
We weren't trying to catch Aidid. We were trying to catch you.
Me?
But am I that important?
I hardly think so.
- You're just a businessman. - Trying to make a living.
Yeah. Selling guns to Aidid's militia.
You've been here, what?
Six weeks?
Six weeks you are trying to catch the general.
You put up reward posters.
$25,000. What is this? Gunfight at the K.O. Corral?
It's the O.K. Corral.
Do you think bringing me in will make him suddenly come to you?
Make him more agreeable?
You know where he sleeps.
You pay for his beds, much less his militia.
We're not leaving Somalia till we find him.
And we will find him.
Don't think because I grew up without running water...
...I am simple, General.
I do know something about history.
See all this? It's simply shaping tomorrow.
A tomorrow without a lot of Arkansas white boys' ideas in it.
